This is a varied, hands-on role suited to a capable, experienced and compassionate nurse who enjoys working as part of a team-oriented veterinary team and is confident handling horses in both hospital and clinical environments. Hawkesbury Equine Veterinary Centre is a well-established equine hospital providing hospital, ambulatory, surgical and advanced reproductive services to a diverse equine clientele across the Hawkesbury and greater Western Sydney region.
Key responsibilities
Nursing and monitoring hospitalised horses
Cleaning stables, yards and general hospital cleaning and maintenance
Assisting veterinarians with medical and surgical procedures
Preparing patients and equipment for surgery
Anaesthetic monitoring and recovery
Assisting with diagnostic procedures, including radiography and ultrasonography
Laboratory work and sample processing
Preparing, cleaning and maintaining clinical instruments and equipment
Administering medications and treatments under veterinary direction
Maintaining accurate patient and treatment records
About you
A Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, an equivalent recognised qualification,
or an overseas veterinary qualification with relevant equine nursing experience
A minimum of two years' experience working in an equine veterinary practice or hospital environment
Confident and safe horse-handling skills
Experience assisting with equine medical and surgical cases
Strong communication and organisational skills
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
A current driver's licence
A genuine commitment to high standards of patient and client care
