An opportunity has opened for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead a highly capable engineering team working on sophisticated geospatial data processing and visualisation products within a growing technology environment.

This is a genuine people and delivery leadership role rather than a hands-on coding position. You'll create the workplace in which talented engineers can perform at their best, taking ownership of delivery, developing your people and continually improving engineering practices.

The Role
Lead, mentor and develop a team of talented software engineers
Own team delivery, planning, resourcing and execution
Remove blockers and proactively manage delivery risks
Work closely with Tech Leads and Product Managers
Balance delivery timelines with quality and team wellbeing
Improve engineering processes and ways of working
Support recruitment, onboarding and future team growth
Build a positive, high-performing engineering culture

About You
Experience as a Software Engineering Manager, Engineering Manager or Development Manager
Strong people leadership, coaching and mentoring experience
Solid technical foundations within software engineering




Experience leading Agile software delivery
Robust planning, delivery and organisational skills
Experience helping engineering teams establish and improve ways of working
Excellent communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience within fast-growing or evolving organisations

Experience with geospatial, GIS, mapping, spatial data or visualisation products would be highly regarded.

Previous Defence experience is advantageous but not essential.

You must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian NV1 security clearance.
