Junior Lawyer Eastern-Suburbs (Clovelly), NSW | Full-Time

Horne Legal is expanding and seeks a Junior Lawyer to join our team. This is a rare prospect to join a small civil and commercial law practice located just a 5-minute walk from Clovelly Beach.

This role is ideal for a recently admitted lawyer with up to 2 years' post admission experience who wants practical experience and direct client exposure while maintaining a genuinely balanced lifestyle.

Our Clovelly office is well serviced by parking, public transport and local amenities, and offers a balanced working environment. With two gyms and a Pilates studio either side of the office, you can fit in a workout before, during or after work.

Key Responsibilities
Reviewing and drafting legal documents and correspondence;
Conducting legal research and analysis;
Managing matters under supervision of two senior lawyers, while showing initiative in progressing towards independent carriage of matters;
Attending court appearances and instructing counsel;
Attending meetings with clients and counsel;
Liaising with clients, counsel, courts, and stakeholders; and
Supporting both dispute resolution and transactional matters.

Essential Requirements for the Role




Admission as a legal practitioner in NSW (or eligible for admission in the short term);
Strong written and verbal communication skills and drafting skills;
Strong attention to detail;
Eager to learn and develop professionally;
Organised, proactive, and reliable;
Able to build solid relationships with clients and colleagues;
Strong time-management and organisational skills; and
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Our Team

You’ll work closely with:
Tim Horne, the Principal, who specialises in litigation and dispute resolution across a diverse range of matters and works with renowned barristers; and
Jamieson Doyle-Taylor who is a senior lawyer specialising in transactional matters for high-value commercial clients.

The two have over 40 years’ combined experience.

You will be supported by paralegals, a clerk and an Office manager with over 30 years’ experience in a large commercial law firms.

There is an experienced team around you to provide guidance and support when you need it.
