Azooa is preparing a response toLH-*****for theAustralian Electoral Commission (AEC)and is seeking suitably qualified contractors for anInformation/Data Architect – SharePoint Online Intranetengagement.
About the Opportunity
The Australian Electoral Commission is seeking an experiencedInformation/Data Architectto design and oversee the information and data architecture supporting its agency intranet, which operates onMicrosoft SharePoint Online.
This is anEL1-equivalent contracting opportunitysuited to an experienced architect with a strong background in enterprise data architecture, information modelling, metadata, governance and large-scale application transformation.
The successful candidate will help establish a scalable, secure, well-governed and searchable information environment for the AEC intranet.
Canberra is the preferred location, although candidates based at other AEC office locations across Australia may also be considered.
Hybrid and potentially fully remote arrangements may be available for candidates who can demonstrate strong communication and stakeholder engagement capability.
Key Responsibilities
The Information/Data Architect will be responsible for:
Defining the targetdata and information architecturefor the AEC intranet.
Developing the implementation approach required to establish the target architecture.
Creatingconceptual, logical and physical data models.
Defining how intranet information should be structured, classified, related and governed.
Developing approaches for metadata, taxonomy, information classification, search and discoverability.
Supporting the design of a secure, scalable and searchable information ecosystem withinSharePoint Online.
Gathering and analysing business and technical information requirements.
Translating requirements into architecture models, standards, specifications and practical implementation guidance.
Working closely with Business Analysts, Developers, Solution Architects and business stakeholders.
Ensuring architecture aligns with AEC enterprise architecture standards and principles.
Incorporating appropriate considerations for:
Data governance
Master Data Management
Metadata management
Identity management
Privacy
Information security
Compliance
Providing architectural oversight and technical guidance throughout implementation.
Supporting the resolution of information architecture, integration and data structure issues during delivery.
Communicating complex architecture concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Working collaboratively within anAgile multidisciplinary delivery environment.
Target data and information architecture for the AEC intranet.
Recommended architecture implementation approach.

Candidates should demonstrate:
Proven experience working as aData Architect, Information Architect or similaron large-scale application development or transformation programs.
Strong experience developingconceptual, logical and physical data models.
Strong understanding of enterprise information and data architecture principles.
Experience with data governance and information management.
Knowledge ofMaster Data Management, metadata management and data lineage.
Understanding of identity management, privacy, security and compliance requirements.
Ability to translate complex business requirements into practical architecture solutions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
Experience operating in complex project environments.
Experience working withinAgile delivery teams.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
SharePoint Online Experience
Experience withSharePoint or SharePoint Onlineis highly desirable.
Candidates should highlight relevant experience across areas such as:
Managed metadata
Content types
Information classification
Taxonomy
Search and discoverability
Document and records structures
Permissions and identity models
SharePoint migrations
SharePoint intranet refreshes
Intranet transformation programs
Information governance within Microsoft 365 environments
Highly Regarded Experience
The following experience will be viewed favourably:
Experience working in security-cleared environments.
Enterprise metadata and taxonomy design.

Multidisciplinary product or project teams.
Relevant Microsoft, Azure, data engineering or cloud certifications.
A degree inComputer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Data/Information Managementor a related discipline is desirable, although equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
Security Clearance Requirements
Be anAustralian Citizen.
Hold anactive AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance.
Be capable of obtaining anAGSVA Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) Security Clearanceif required by the AEC.

Working arrangement:Hybrid / adaptable, with remote arrangements potentially considered
The AEC has indicated a preference for the successful contractor to work fromCanberra.
Candidates based at other AEC office locations may also be considered.
Adaptable arrangements combining onsite attendance and remote work may be available.
Candidates seeking a fully remote arrangement should be able to demonstrate particularly strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder relationship skills.
Rate Guidance
Azooa recommends a target rate of approximately:
$145–$155 per hour including super
Approximately$150/hour including superis considered a strong balance between candidate value and bid competitiveness.
As a general guide:
$145–$150/hour including super– strong price competitiveness.
$150–$155/hour including super– competitive for a strongly aligned candidate.
$155–$160/hour including super– may be viable for candidates with particularly robust SharePoint Online, Data Architecture, Federal Government and security clearance experience.
$160/hour+ including super– generally suited to candidates whose specialist experience strongly supports a premium rate.
Using an eight-hour day, the recommended range equates to approximately$1,160–$1,240/day including super.
