Our Tier 1 Mining Client is looking for an experienced Senior Contracts Specialist to join a major projects team supporting the execution of a significant mining infrastructure project.
n
The Role
n
This is a project execution-focused contracts position, rather than a procurement or category management role. You will work within a small contracts and procurement team, administering construction contracts and working closely with contractors and internal project stakeholders throughout project delivery.
n
The position is primarily Perth based, with intermittent travel to site.
n
Working on a live major project, you will be responsible for contract administration and commercial support across SMP and Civil construction work packages.
n
Key Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
n
n
Administer construction contracts throughout project execution and close-out
n
Develop, coordinate and evaluate tender packages for construction works and services
n
Manage contractual correspondence, notices and contractor communications
n
Assess contractor payment claims, variations and Extension of Time (EOT) claims
n
Review construction programs and understand contractual schedule impacts
n
Negotiate commercial terms, conditions and pricing
n




Develop detailed pricing schedules, methods of measure and rules of credit
n
Identify and assess contractual and commercial risks
n
Provide commercial reports and advice to support project decision-making
n
Identify opportunities to deliver cost savings and commercial value
n
Work closely with engineering, legal, quality, project controls and logistics stakeholders
n
Support and mentor junior team members where required
n
n
Relevant Experience
n
n
5+ years' experience in construction contract administration within mining or civil construction
n
Strong SMP and Civil contracts experience
n
Demonstrated experience administering contracts on live project execution
n
Both client-side and contractor-side experience
n
Strong experience working directly with construction contractors
n
Previous experience managing construction contracts from tender through execution to close-out
n
Demonstrated experience assessing payment claims, variations and EOT claims
n
Strong understanding of construction programs and contractual requirements
n
PIMS experience
n
Excellent attention to detail, organisation and stakeholder management skills
n
Ability to manage multiple work packages and competing priorities in a fast-paced project environment
n
Ability to work autonomously as part of a small, collaborative team
n
Flexibility to attend site intermittently as required
n
