We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Garbage Truck Operator to join our Waste Services team on a casual basis.
n
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced operator who enjoys working outdoors, contributing to the local community and being part of a professional Council team.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
Operating garbage and waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently.
n
Collecting residential and commercial waste in accordance with Council schedules.
n
Monitor and report on damaged bins, contaminated recyclables and issues with bin location.
n
Completing pre-start vehicle inspections and reporting any faults or maintenance issues.
n
Operating hydraulic lifting and waste collection equipment.
n
Working cooperatively with Waste Services staff and the broader Council team.
n
Providing courteous and professional service to members of the community.
n
Following Council policies, work procedures, traffic regulations and workplace health and safety requirements.
n
Drive and operate vehicles in a secure and competent manner within all road traffic laws and regulations.
n
Maintaining a high standard of vehicle cleanliness and presentation.
n
n
About You: To be successful in this role, you will have:
n
n
A current HR (Heavy Rigid) driver's licence or higher.
n
Previous experience operating heavy vehicles, preferably garbage collection or waste management vehicles.
n




A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
n
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
n
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
n
A reliable and responsible approach to attendance and work duties.
n
The ability to undertake physically active outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
n
Previous experience in local government or waste services will be highly regarded.
n

Your Working Environment (for eligible employees)

All Uniforms & PPE supplied.
n
50% loading applies to work performed on a Saturday.
n
100% loading applies to work performed on a Sunday.
n
