Role:
n
Misc. Parramatta is seeking a passionate and skilled Chef to oversee the efficient operation of the kitchen and assist in the preparation, cooking and presentation of high-quality meals. The Chef will be responsible for ensuring all dishes are prepared in accordance with the restaurant's quality standards while maintaining consistency, efficiency and compliance with food safety requirements.

The successful applicant will be responsible for planning and preparing menu items, assisting with menu development and seasonal specials, selecting quality ingredients, supervising food preparation and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the kitchen. The Chef will work closely with management and kitchen staff to maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and customer satisfaction.

All work will be undertaken in a fully equipped, clean and organised commercial kitchen. Applicants must be able to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment and possess strong knowledge of commercial cooking techniques, food preparation, ingredient selection,
food safety and kitchen operations. Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills are essential.

Responsibilities And Duties:
n

Plan, prepare, cook and present high-quality meals in accordance with the restaurant's recipes, quality standards and customer requirements.
n
Assist in planning and developing menus and seasonal specials in consultation with management, taking into account customer demand, current food trends and ingredient availability.
n
Select, inspect and prepare fresh, high-quality ingredients to ensure consistency and excellence in every dish.
n
Estimate food requirements, place orders with suppliers, monitor stock levels and conduct regular stocktakes to ensure adequate supplies and minimise wastage.
n
Supervise and coordinate the activities of cooks and other kitchen staff to ensure the efficient operation of the kitchen.
n
Monitor food preparation, portion control, quality and presentation to ensure meals are consistently prepared to the restaurant's standards.
n
Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance and training to kitchen staff on food preparation, cooking methods and presentation.
n
Ensure all food is prepared,
stored and handled in accordance with food safety legislation, hygiene standards and workplace health and safety requirements.
n
Maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained, cleaned and operated safely.
n
Assist in controlling food and labour costs while maintaining quality and operational efficiency.
n
Work efficiently during busy service periods, ensuring orders are prepared and served in a timely manner without compromising quality.
n
Liaise with management regarding menu planning, stock requirements, customer feedback and opportunities for continuous improvement.
n
Assist in the training, mentoring and supervision of kitchen staff to maintain high standards of performance and professionalism.
n
Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures and relevant legislative requirements.
n
Perform other duties reasonably required to ensure the effective operation of the kitchen.

Skills And Qualifications
n
n
AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2).
n
3 years of work experience.
n
Ability to handle busy service and ensure quality of food is maintained. Work in a fast-paced environment.
n
Hardworking, positive attitude.
n
Ability to work within a team and independently. Be available for weekdays, weekends, and nights.
n
n

Salary: $78,000 - $80,000
