Our ambition is to create a leading player wellbeing and performance psychology environment across Victorian cricket – one that supports players to perform, grow and thrive on and off the field.
We're looking for an experienced psychologist to lead this work across our Men's, Women's and Pathway programs.
This is more than a service-delivery role. You'll have the opportunity to shape Cricket Victoria's strategy, strengthen the capability of coaches and support teams, and embed a connected approach to wellbeing and psychological performance across the Victorian cricket system.
Combining strategic leadership with direct player support, the role is available three to five days per week. We're open to discussing an arrangement that works for you and our programs.
About the role
Reporting to the General Manager of Cricket Performance, you'll lead Cricket Victoria's approach to player wellbeing and performance psychology across our elite cricket programs.
No two days will look quite the same. You might be supporting a player one-on-one, partnering with a coach to strengthen their team environment, working alongside a Player Development Manager or shaping a broader wellbeing initiative across Victorian cricket. et.
What you'll be doing
Developing and delivering Cricket Victoria's player wellbeing and performance psychology strategy across Men's, Women's and Pathway programs
Providing performance psychology leadership and direct wellbeing support to players
Delivering individual and group sessions that build wellbeing and the psychological capabilities needed for sustainable performance
Partnering with coaches and support staff to strengthen team culture, psychological safety and player engagement
Building the capability of coaches, Player Development Managers and support staff to create healthy, high-performing environments
Leading and supporting the Player Development Management function across the Men's and Women's programs
Developing practical frameworks,
tools and ways of working that support a consistent approach across programs
Coordinating wellbeing systems, case-management practices and referral pathways
Supporting players experiencing wellbeing or mental health challenges and coordinating appropriate interventions and external clinical referrals
Evaluating the reach and effectiveness of wellbeing initiatives while protecting player confidentiality
Working closely with Cricket Australia's wellbeing network and other key stakeholders to align with national frameworks and contemporary practice
About you'll bring
You're an experienced and collaborative psychologist who enjoys building trusted relationships and working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
You understand that high-performance environments can be demanding and complex. You're comfortable balancing player care, confidentiality, performance needs and organisational responsibilities, and you bring sound judgement, empathy and credibility to your work.
You'll bring:
General registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia through AHPRA
At least five years' experience as a registered psychologist
Experience working within elite sport or another high-performance environment
Experience delivering sport or performance psychology services
A strong understanding of athlete wellbeing, mental health and performance environments
Experience designing and implementing wellbeing programs, frameworks or strategies
Strong communication, stakeholder-management and relationship-building skills
The ability to work effectively with players, coaches,
leaders and multidisciplinary support teams
A current Victorian Working with Children Check, or the ability to obtain one
We'd also value:
Endorsement in Sport and Exercise Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology or a related area
Experience leading wellbeing strategy within elite sport
Experience managing staff or multidisciplinary wellbeing programs
Knowledge of athlete transition, safeguarding and player development frameworks
