About The Role
At The Royal Melbourne Hospital, we believe exceptional care begins with exceptional learning. As a Speech Pathology Practice Educator, you will lead the development of the future speech pathology workforce and strengthen clinical practice across residential aged care services. This role offers the opportunity to combine your expertise in speech pathology, education and leadership to create meaningful impact for older adults, students and healthcare professionals.
Joining the RMH Speech Pathology team, you will be part of a service delivering integrated multidisciplinary care across acute, subacute and community settings throughout Melbourne Health. You will play a key role in building clinical capability, fostering evidence-based practice and supporting high-quality, person-centred care for older Australians.
Key Accountabilities
The Speech Pathology Practice Educator is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic design, coordination and delivery of speech pathology education and training across The Royal Melbourne Hospital's Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs).
In This Influential Role, You Will
Lead innovative education programs for speech pathology students in aged care settings
Foster a culture of continuous learning,



clinical excellence and professional growth
Promote best practice in communication, swallowing and mealtime management, supporting residents' independence, informed choice, dignity of risk and quality of life
Develop sustainable education systems, competency frameworks, governance and reporting processes
Partner with residential aged care leaders, multidisciplinary teams, universities and professional organisations to strengthen workforce capability
Lead education-focused quality improvement and knowledge translation initiatives
Represent RMH Speech Pathology through skilled networks, education forums and sector-wide collaborations
About You
You are an experienced clinician and educator who is committed to developing others and improving care for older people. You will bring:
Extensive clinical experience as a Speech Pathologist, ideally across aged care, dysphagia and communication management
Demonstrated expertise in clinical education, supervision and workforce development
Strong understanding of contemporary aged care practice, quality standards and accreditation requirements
Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
Experience designing, implementing and evaluating education programs
Commitment to evidence-based practice, quality improvement and person-centred care
Ability to inspire, influence and lead change across diverse teams and settings
