An Australian financial services business is appointing a Manager to lead its fund accounting function. The role reports directly to the General Manager and carries real weight, over the numbers, the controls, and the team.

This appointment is about giving an established function a stronger, more senior hand at the front, with genuine scope to shape how it operates.

The Role
n
n
Leads, mentors, and develops a team of fund accountants, owning workload allocation and performance
n
Oversees the review of NAVs, reconciliations, and distributions across a portfolio of managed funds
n
Reviews financial statements and ensures accurate, timely investor and regulatory reporting
n
Acts as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders including fund managers and auditors
n
Owns the effectiveness of internal controls, processes, and standard operating procedures across the function
n
Leads process improvement and system enhancement work, and contributes to broader project and change initiatives
n
Identifies and manages operational risk, including key person dependencies and manual process gaps
n

Background Required
n
n
Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, with CPA or CFA qualification
n
Five years or more in fund accounting or a closely related discipline, including time in a supervisory capacity
n
Confidence operating in a regulated financial services setting
n
Strong Excel skills and the ability to work with complex financial data and reporting
n
A communication style suited to external stakeholder management, not just internal review work
n

Salary range $150,000 to $165,000 inclusive of super, reflecting the seniority and stakeholder scope of the role.

Full time, five days a week based in the Melbourne CBD office.
