Role: Java Developer
n Daily Rate: $900 - $**** incl. Super
n Contract Length: Initial contract to 30/06/27 + 12-month extension
n Location: Canberra/WFH Flex

An established Federal Government agency is seeking an experienced Java Developer to join a high-profile technology environment supporting critical, enterprise-scale applications.
n
This is a hands-on development role suited to someone with strong experience across Java / Java EE, enterprise application development, system enhancements, upgrades and production support.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
Designing, developing and maintaining robust, scalable enterprise applications using Java and Java EE
n
Enhancing and improving existing software platforms in line with business and technical requirements
n
Undertaking software upgrades, application enhancements and remediation
n
Investigating and resolving complex application and production issues
n
Testing and validating application changes to ensure reliable outcomes
n
Reviewing and improving existing code to increase efficiency, performance and maintainability
n
Producing high‐quality technical and solution documentation
n
Working collaboratively with developers,



technical teams and business stakeholders
n
Supporting and mentoring less experienced developers
n
Contributing to project reporting, technical governance and delivery planning
n
Operating effectively within structured security, legislative and governance frameworks
n

About You
n
n
Experience maintaining and enhancing complex, business‐critical applications
n
Strong experience with software version upgrades and application modernisation
n
Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem‐solving capability
n
Experience delivering development outcomes within agreed timelines and priorities
n
Strong technical documentation skills
n
Experience mentoring or supporting junior developers
n
Previous experience within Federal Government, Defence, financial services or another highly regulated workplace will be highly regarded
n
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or a related discipline
n
n
