North Sydney | Structural Engineering Consultancy | Leadership + Hands-On Design
A genuine opportunity for an experienced Structural Engineer who wants more than simply managing projects.
We are seeking a senior structural professional to take responsibility for a well-established consultancy's North Sydney operation - managing the team, overseeing projects and deliverables, maintaining solid client relationships and helping drive the continued growth and profitability of the office.
This is very much a hands-on leadership position. You will still be technically involved in structural design and project delivery, while taking broader responsibility for the performance of the team and the business.
The Role
You will effectively take ownership of the North Sydney structural operation, with responsibilities include:
Leading, managing and mentoring the structural engineering team
Remaining hands-on with structural analysis, design and technical problem solving
Managing projects from concept and design through documentation and construction
Allocating resources and ensuring project deadlines and deliverables are achieved
Reviewing designs and maintaining a high standard of technical output
Building and maintaining relationships with architects, builders, developers and other consultants
Attending client, design and construction meetings and confidently representing the consultancy
Assisting with proposals, fees, business development and winning new work
Monitoring project performance,



utilisation and commercial outcomes
Helping grow the North Sydney business into an increasingly profitable operation
Your Background
You will ideally be a Principal, Associate, Associate Director or Engineering Manager with strong Australian structural consultancy experience who is ready to take ownership of an office and team.
Technically, you should have broad building structures experience across reinforced concrete and structural steel, with sound knowledge of structural analysis and design.
Experience with ETABS, SpaceGass and RAPT would be highly regarded. Exposure to post-tensioned concrete would also be advantageous, although specialist PT design capability is not essential.
Most importantly, you need to be more than a strong designer. We are looking for somebody who can lead people, manage clients, control projects and understand the commercial side of running a successful consulting engineering team.
