Our Axo33 product platform delivers real-time digital modelling, intelligent decision-making and high-reliability automation for mine-to-port operations, supporting critical infrastructure across stockyards, rail and shipping environments worldwide.
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong C++ backend development experience to shape core automation and sensor-processing modules within Axo33.
About the role You will take ownership of complex C++ backend components across the Axo33 platform, with a particular focus on real-time automation logic and sensor data processing – including LiDAR and telemetry inputs.
Working closely with Product Owners, System Architects and Automation Engineers, you'll contribute to architecture, design, development, testing and deployment of robust, scalable software for real-world industrial systems.
You'll also help grow the team through mentoring and technical leadership.
What you'll do Design and develop high-performance C++ backend services and core automation components Build and optimise software for processing sensor and spatial data (LiDAR, telemetry, positioning) to support automated decision-making Develop and maintain APIs, services and real-time communication components (WebSockets, REST) Integrate software with industrial systems, including PLC/SCADA and third-party platforms Contribute to system architecture and technical decision-making for high-reliability systems Work across the broader stack (Python, Postgres/MySQL, Linux, Git, Jira Agile)
to deliver features end-to-end Mentor engineers and contribute to a strong engineering culture Improve code quality, automated testing and deployment processes What you'll bring Proven experience as a senior engineer delivering production-grade C++ software in complex or operational environments Experience designing APIs, services, data models or real-time data pipelines Sound engineering judgement, robust problem-solving ability, and clear communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders Experience with industrial automation, telemetry, PLC/SCADA or operational technology A practical, independent mindset suited to software used in live operational environments Experience processing sensor or spatial data (e.g., LiDAR) is a strong asset.
Exposure to mining, ports or heavy industry, or MATLAB/GNU Octave is a bonus but not essential.
