About the Branch
The Public Administration group supports the Victorian Government and the DPC Secretary with expertise in public sector governance, strategic communication, protocol and intergovernmental relations, and advice on legal issues and legislation.
The group also provides whole of government leadership and coordination in these areas.
In doing so, the group gives special attention to the institutions and systems of Westminster government, including the operation of Cabinet and the Victorian Executive Council, and relationships with the Office of the Governor, Parliament, Chief Parliamentary Counsel, the Victorian Electoral Commission and the Victorian Public Sector Commission.
About the Role
Develop, review and coordinate approvals for communications content across media, digital and other communications channels.
Monitor communications issues and trends, maintain tracking systems, analyse data, and prepare reports and recommendations to inform advice.
Provide project and administrative support to the Head of First Peoples State Relations Communications and team managers.
Maintain records and filing systems, support compliance with departmental standards, and provide advice on policies and processes.
We are seeking applicants who have demonstrated experience from the following criteria:
Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders in community or government setting.
An understanding of Aboriginal Victorians' cultures, experience and knowledges and the ability to engage effectively with First Peoples and communities.
Outcomes Thinking:
Highly developed initiative and ability to work under pressure.




Ability to clearly and confidently communicate with people at all levels of the organisation and use good judgment in handling difficult and sensitive communications.
Interpersonal Skills:
Highly developed interpersonal skills, with an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, provide advice on processes and policies, and work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve common goals and manage risks.
Verbal and Written Communication:
Sound verbal and written communication skills, including a strong writing ability with an eye for detail, including the ability to perform quality assurance on all products prepared by the Branch.
Flexibility and adaptability:
Willingness to be adaptable and adaptable to changing priorities.
Ability to distinguish between more and less critical activities to operate accordingly and deliver on outcomes.
This role is an ongoing position.
