About Us
Miracle Babies Foundation is Australia's leading organisation supporting premature and sick newborns, their families, and the hospitals that care for them.
Every year in Australia, around 48,000 newborn babies require the support of a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or Special Care Nursery (SCN). Of these, approximately 27,000 are born premature and up to 1,000 babies lose their fight for life. We are committed to improving, supporting, and enhancing the lives of all those impacted by a premature or sick birth.
About the Role
Miracle Babies Foundation is seeking a parent with lived experience of having a baby who required specialised care in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or Special Care Nursery following birth.
This position is a
maternity leave cover role
providing
NurtureTime (NT) peer support services at Wollongong Hospital for 6 hours per week
, along with facilitating
NurtureGroup (NG) for 3 hours per fortnight
.
The successful applicant will deliver Miracle Babies Foundation's NurtureProgram services and parent information to improve engagement with families and strengthen connections to support services.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing peer support, guidance, hope,



and connection to families with babies in the NICU or Special Care Nursery through NurtureTime at Wollongong Hospital.
Facilitating NurtureGroup sessions for families following discharge from hospital.
Delivering emotional support and sharing lived experience in a professional and compassionate manner.
Promoting Miracle Babies Foundation services, programs, and resources.
Supporting resource distribution within the hospital.
Assisting with Foundation awareness activities, events, and campaigns as required.
Delivering services in accordance with Miracle Babies Foundation's commitment to providing the highest standard of peer-to-peer parent support.
About You
A parent with lived experience of having a baby admitted to a NICU or Special Care Nursery.
Passionate about supporting other families navigating their neonatal journey.
Willing to obtain a paid Working With Children Check.
Willing to undergo a National Police Check.
Willing to meet all required vaccination obligations.
Able to communicate with empathy, professionalism, and sensitivity in a hospital setting.
