Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Electrical Commissioning Engineer, who will be responsible for overseeing the development of test scripts and the testing of complex electrical infrastructure products and systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide engineering and technical support for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and performing commissioning across the entire life cycle of critical facilities. Participate in the MEP design process. Witness static and dynamic testing of complex mechanical, electrical, and control systems, and operate the system in normal, maintenance and failure modes of operation by performing the following duties:
Should have advanced experience in live components, three-phase AC power systems (HV/MV/LV), and direct current (DC) power systems
Perform the test procedure
Create the minutes of the meeting
Work with basic test equipment such as power quality analysers and oscilloscopes
Interact with the contractor to interpret the design and specifications
Knowledge of engineering principles
Solid understanding of machinery, principles, and complete knowledge of major areas
Ability to write functional performance test scripting and integrated system test procedures
Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems from an operational perspective
Ability to interact/work with, and represent, customers, maintaining the highest professional standards
Conduct on-site observation surveys, create field reports on project status, and report on project completion regarding compliance with plans and specifications
Create a punch list report to determine corrective actions for field problems
Create a general condition survey report
Familiarise yourself with technical standards, local project regulations, construction practices and the latest equipment functional concepts
Understand and follow the safety requirements of all projects, including specific site regulations
Perform routine calculations
Participate in specialised engineering associations and academic societies
As a project coordinator with other field engineers, coordinate printing, presentation, and management procedures
Review project drawings and submissions
Develop MEP test procedures
Develop MEP operating procedures
Respond to RFIs when requested by the PM team
Perform various management tasks
Understand test run levels and standards
Perform other assigned duties
Similar Work Experience and Skills
The candidate should have worked on heavy commercial/industrial electrical systems/installation of sub-systems, commissioning, and testing, with troubleshooting and maintenance experience and knowledge.
Candidates must have experience and knowledge of the following electrical systems:
Power system/subsystem – HV/MV/LV
Distribution system/unit (high voltage/medium voltage experience)
Electrical protection system/scheme
Transformers and generators
Switchgear (PDU, UPS wrap-around, distribution gear with source change function)
UPS/STS module
General understanding of modern power conversion systems such as transistor-based conversion
Ability to interpret raw signal data and processing such as UPS/generator waveforms
Control system/EPMS system/SCADA/PLC
Grounding and instrumentation
Knowledge of load bank calculation
Knowledge of networks and communication systems such as BACnet, Modbus, Ethernet
