Job No: APTEO********** Campus Location: Brisbane Functional Unit: National School of Allied Health Work Type: Casual Academic Seeking expressions of interest for casual Professional Practice Educators in the disciple of Occupational Therapy Work alongside motivated colleagues within a highly recognised, innovative national school ACU offers generous hourly rates starting at $***** per hour inclusive of casual loading plus 17% super Multiple casual academic opportunities with flexible hours working at Brisbane campus Operating within Occupational Therapy (Brisbane) , the casual Professional Practice Educator provides high quality teaching, learning opportunities, professional development, clinical supervision, support, mentoring and assessments for ACU students undertaking professional practice placement within the Occupational Therapy disciple underpinned by the university's mission and values.
Responsibilities include: Delivering in-person supervision to OT students undertaking professional practice placements between November-December ****.
Facilitating student learning through modelling, coaching, scaffolding, feedback and reflective practice discussions.
Supporting students to develop professional reasoning, clinical skills, behaviours and OT competencies relevant to the placement setting.
Creating learning opportunities in collaboration with placement supervisors that enable students to meet placement objectives and learning outcomes.
Monitoring, documenting and evaluating student performance throughout the placement.
Completing halfway and final Student Practice Evaluation Form Revised Edition 2 (SPEF-R2) evaluations for each student.
Liaising with ACU academic staff regarding student progress, support needs and assessment requirements.
Maintaining a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment for students.
You will need to have: Current registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Demonstrated clinical experience in OT practice within paediatric, mental health or aged care settings.
Experience supervising students with the ability to support learning, professional development and reflective practice.
Strong understanding of contemporary practice OT frameworks, qualified standards, ethical principles and relevant legislation.
Commitment to person-centred, strengths-based and evidence-informed practice.
Enthusiasm for teaching, mentoring and contributing to the development of the future OT workforce.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with students, service providers, colleagues and stakeholders.




Well-developed organisational and time management skills along with capability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Knowledge of cultural safety, inclusion, diversity and ethical practice principles including EEO and WHS requirements.
