Senior Strategic Planner

Competitive salary of $133,348 - $146,945 pa plus superannuation and leave loading
About the role
School Infrastructure is delivering new school buildings, major upgrades and maintenance strategies to ensure every school-aged child has access to high quality education facilities at their local public school. This encompasses the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
Our Strategic Planning team works with government agencies, local councils, developers and internal stakeholders to ensure future school infrastructure is considered in the planning of growing communities across NSW. The team leads strategic planning and placemaking initiatives that support housing growth, shape future precincts and help deliver schools where they are needed most.

Primary purpose of the role
As the Senior Strategic Planner, you'll provide expert advice on complex planning and development matters, helping to shape long-term school infrastructure outcomes across NSW. Through strategic analysis, stakeholder collaboration and evidence-based recommendations, you'll influence planning decisions that support growing communities and future education needs.
Key responsibilities
Prepare strategic planning advice and responses to planning proposals, precinct plans and other government initiatives to support future school infrastructure.
Provide expert advice on strategic planning, placemaking and urban development, using data and evidence to inform decisions and manage risks.
Build strong partnerships with government agencies, local councils, developers and internal stakeholders to influence planning outcomes.
Identify future school infrastructure needs and develop evidence-based recommendations that support growing communities.
Prepare high-quality briefings and correspondence, contribute to strategic planning initiatives and represent School Infrastructure in stakeholder forums.
About you
Extensive experience in strategic planning
, urban development or land use planning.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills
, with the ability to influence planning outcomes.
Proven ability to analyse complex issues
and provide evidence-based strategic advice.
Excellent written communication skills
, with experience preparing high-quality reports, briefings and responses.
Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
Extensive strategic planning experience is highly desirable, however other disciplines such as urban design are suitable.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning and/or demonstrated equivalent skilled experience.
Flexibility to travel to state-wide locations, as required.
A current and valid driver's licence.
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education

Note:
The selection process will include a range of assessment techniques to assist in determining your suitability for the role. Successful candidates will be required to undertake pre-employment screening for this role which includes a National Criminal History Check.
As a condition of employment, successful candidates not currently employed by the Department must provide a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance number. Renewal is not required after the WWCC expires, as long as you remain in a non-child-related role. Employer obligations only apply while the WWCC is valid.
