This assistant management position does not come up often! You will be an integral part of a small, effective & multi-cultural team, working side-by-side with an experienced Farm Manager to oversee and coordinate the daily operations at the Killarney Breeder Rearing Farm. As the Rearing Farm Assistant Manager (2IC), you will be a strong support to the Farm Manager with the operation of a 6-shed Rearing production farm in south-east Queensland. This is a development role for future Farm Managers. The position reports directly to the Farm Manager.

Duties
n
n
Assist the Farm Manager in the co-ordination of all farm activities for the achievement of short and long-term business objectives.
n
Ensure all tasks are undertaken in a secure manner.
n
Assist the Farm Manager to ensure appropriately trained staff are available for specialist tasks , shed walks, fumigation etc.
n
Under the direction of the Farm Manager, undertake serological monitoring and ensure that all medications are administered as required and in the appropriate manner.
n




Ensure all farm administration duties are performed in accordance with Darwalla guidelines, including the completion of all relevant reports and documentation within specific time requirements.
n
Assist the Farm Manager to engage and lead a team of people.
n

Skills & Experience
n
The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
n
n
Previous poultry industry experience is required, preferably in Rearing
n
Conversant with animal welfare standards, legislative obligations and Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures
n
Self-motivated to work independently and to manage multiple tasks
n
A team player who is willing to learn to engage, manage and direct staff
n
Strive to meet industry "best practice" standards
n
Decision making and problem solving skills
n
Excellent communication skills
n

n
Computer skills
n
Current Drivers Licence and Car
n
