This is a Casual position within the Central Steralising Services Department.
The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that surgical instruments and equipment are processed in compliance with current industry reprocessing standards of Reusable Medical Devices (RMDs), Infection Prevention and Control (IP&C;) as well as RCH policy and procedures.
This position shall provide essential support by carrying out decontamination, packaging, sterilisation and preparation of critical and semi-critical medical devices in alignment with RCH policy.
Furthermore, this position will ensure the RCH Perioperative Suite and the Division of Surgery have safe, sterile, and functional instruments readily available for surgical procedures.
What you'll achieve:
Performing all CSSD daily activities and duties, including the decontamination, packaging, sterilisation, and preparation of critical and semi-critical medical devices, ensuring a timely delivery of services and products.
All tasks must be performed according to documented instructions and in accordance with current Australian Standards to support the safe and effective delivery of surgical services.
Monitoring the operation of all reprocessing equipment and reporting any failures through the internal reporting system for faults and repairs, ensuring the safety of all staff is maintained.
Assisting in the orientation of new staff members within CSSD to allow for appropriate and timely training of all new and trainee staff.
Using all CSSD processing equipment in a safe manner and assisting with all stages of stock management as required,



to ensure appropriate levels of stock are available and continuity of service is maintained.
Responding to enquiries and requests as required, providing great customer service and playing a vital role in ensuring the Perioperative Suite and Division of Surgery have consistent access to sterile, functional instruments for patient care.
Your skills and experience:
Certificate III – Sterilising Practice for Technicians
CSSD experience in accordance with the Award
Has greater than twelve (12) months post-qualification experience (full-time equivalent) as an Instrument Technician
Knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
Knowledge of sterilisation procedures and practices
