The Department In the Alfred Care Group, Allied Health is renowned for its outstanding patient care, achieved through clinical excellence, qualified opportunities, innovation and care for our staff.
We are Art Therapy, Exercise Physiology, Dietetics, Disability Liaison Officers, Music Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Orthoptics, Podiatry, Physiotherapy, Prosthetics Orthotics, Psychology, Social Work, Speech Pathology Language Services, and Spiritual Care, as well as Allied Health Assistants.

The Role The Speech Pathologist in this position is responsible for:



Providing high-quality speech pathology services related to the assessment and management of patients with communication and/or swallowing disorders Fostering excellence in the Speech Pathology Service by providing leadership and facilitating the clinical and professional skills of Speech Pathology staff and students.
Maintaining effective collaborative relationships with multidisciplinary team members, external service providers and other relevant stakeholders Coordinating and leading quality improvement, service development, research and evaluation activities as appropriate Promoting a culture of ongoing learning, reflective practice and evidence-based care within the Speech Pathology Department and ABI Rehabilitation Service Assisting in monitoring client outcomes and identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery and clinical practice Providing supervision, education and training of staff and students as appropriate.
Qualifications/Experience Required A recognised degree in Speech Pathology Eligibility for membership to Speech Pathology Australia Minimum 7 years of experience in provision of Speech Pathology services, with experience in acquired brain injury, behaviours of concern and tracheostomy being highly desirable.
Post graduate qualifications in a relevant clinical area or working towards this being highly desirable Demonstrated high-level assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and management skills in Speech Pathology, including communication and swallowing disorders, with experience in rehabilitation settings, and acquired brain injury highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team,



developing and maintaining effective working relationships Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to support, mentor and develop Speech Pathology staff and students, foster professional growth, and contribute to a positive and inclusive team culture.
Experience supervising and coordinating students and staff, including participation in competency, training and professional development programs.
