As part of their move from legacy SQL Server and traditional data warehouse technologies to Microsoft Fabric, they're looking to add an experienced Senior Data Engineer to their growing Data & Reporting team.While you'll be hands‐on building data solutions, the organisation isn't looking for someone who simply takes requirements and delivers what's been requested.
They're looking for an engineer who can work with senior stakeholders to understand the problem, present different approaches, explain the pros and cons of each, and help shape the right outcome.
Once a direction has been agreed, you'll take ownership of delivering a practical, scalable solution that works for both the business and the technology team.The OpportunityAs a Senior Data Engineer, you'll be a senior individual contributor responsible for designing, building and supporting a modern Microsoft Fabric data platform.
You'll play a key role in the migration from legacy SQL Server and traditional data warehouse technologies into a cloud-first environment.The role offers a blend of:Hands‐on engineering and solution designTechnical leadershipStakeholder engagement and solution consultingProduction support and platform optimisationYou'll work closely with engineering, architecture and leadership teams to deliver scalable and reliable data solutions that support reporting, analytics and future AI initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop enterprise‐scale data solutions using Microsoft FabricBuild and optimise Lakehouse, Warehouse and data pipeline capabilitiesSupport the migration and modernisation of legacy data platformsDevelop scalable ETL/ELT frameworks and reusable engineering patternsEstablish engineering standards, best practices and delivery approachesMonitor and optimise platform performance,



reliability and operational supportWork closely with technical and business stakeholders to deliver practical outcomesContribute to DevOps, automation, governance and continuous improvement initiativesAbout YouMicrosoft Fabric experience is a mandatory requirement for this position.
The team already has strong knowledge of the existing setting and is specifically looking for someone who has previously helped build, implement and mature modern data platforms using Fabric.
This is not a role for someone whose experience has been primarily focused on supporting established platforms.
The successful candidate will have been involved in platform modernisation initiatives, understands the challenges of migrating legacy data environments, and can bring practical experience from similar transformations.You'll bring experience across:Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Warehouse and data pipeline developmentData engineering and enterprise data platformsData warehouse modernisation and migration initiativesPySpark, Python and SQL developmentETL/ELT design and data pipeline engineeringAzure‐based data technologiesWorking across both project delivery and production support environmentsJust as importantly, you'll be comfortable working directly with senior stakeholders.
You'll be able to present different technical approaches, explain the trade‐offs of each option, and help stakeholders make informed decisions.
