Areas of expertise include power distribution, lighting, telecommunications and IT infrastructure, security and CCTV, energy management, HVAC, fire protection systems, plumbing, vertical transport, alternative energy systems, and energy efficiency modeling and certification.Role DescriptionThis full time, on-site role is based in Brisbane, QLD, and focuses on building services electrical engineering for a variety of commercial, public, and urban development projects.
Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and documenting electrical building services systems such as power distribution, lighting, emergency and exit lighting, and communications infrastructure in accordance with relevant standards and client requirements.
The role involves performing load calculations, system coordination, and technical assessments, as well as preparing specifications, drawings, and reports for tenders and construction.
The engineer collaborates closely with mechanical,



hydraulic, and ESD engineers, as well as architects, contractors, and project managers, to deliver integrated, efficient, and sustainable designs.
Duties also include attending site visits and inspections, responding to contractor queries, supporting commissioning and handover, and contributing to continuous improvement and innovation in building services solutions.QualificationsStrong technical skills in building services electrical engineering, including power distribution, lighting design, emergency and exit lighting, and low-voltage systems.Experience with telecommunications, IT infrastructure, security, CCTV, access control, audio-visual, and lighting control systems in building environments.Knowledge of energy management, alternative energy systems, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and energy efficiency modeling or certification.Proficiency in relevant design and drafting tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit or similar BIM software), and familiar with Australian Standards and building codes.Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; eligibility for or membership with Engineers Australia is desirable.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate clearly with clients, architects, and contractors.Solid analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.Experience in consulting engineering or building services design, particularly within commercial, institutional, or government projects, is an advantage.
