About This Role
Join a major owner's team leading the design, planning and technical governance of a large-scale tailings storage facility.
This role will oversee annual wall raise programs, manage external design consultants and drive long-term asset strategy, ensuring safe, compliant and practical engineering outcomes for a critical operational asset, with occasional site travel to Gladstone.
Lead the development and delivery of annual wall raise design packages for a major residue management facility.
Provide technical leadership across civil, geotechnical, earthworks and water management disciplines.
Manage external engineering consultants, ensuring scope, schedule, budget and quality outcomes are achieved.
Oversee design assurance, technical governance and independent verification processes.
Develop and maintain long-term infrastructure and wall raise strategies.
Coordinate geotechnical investigations, technical studies and specialist engineering inputs.
Ensure designs are safe, compliant, practical and aligned with operational requirements.
Support business case development, capital planning and funding submissions.
Identify and manage technical risks, opportunities and change control activities.
Manage design schedules, budgets and performance reporting.Work closely with operations, engineering, project delivery and water management teams.
Provide technical recommendations and updates to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
Drive continuous improvement across design, planning and asset management processes.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
Extensive experience in civil infrastructure, mining, dams, tailings, residue management or bulk earthworks projects.
Strong background in design management, technical governance and engineering assurance.
Proven experience managing engineering consultants and multidisciplinary design teams.
Experience overseeing studies, investigations and design development programs.
Strong understanding of risk management, compliance and engineering standards.
Experience developing project scopes, schedules, cost estimates and funding submissions.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to influence outcomes across operational, technical and project teams.
RPEQ accreditation or eligibility highly regarded.
Experience within an owner's team environment will be highly regarded
