About the role DCV Plant and Civil is seeking a skilled and reliable Civil Construction Carpenter to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for building, installing, and repairing structures and formwork used in civil construction projects such as roads, bridges, drainage systems, and other infrastructure works.
This role requires strong practical carpentry skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in an outdoor construction environment.Key ResponsibilitiesRead and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirementsConstruct, erect, and dismantle formwork and falsework for concrete structures (footings, columns, slabs, retaining walls, culverts, bridges, etc.)Measure, cut, and shape timber, plywood, and other materials to required dimensionsInstall and secure bracing, shoring, and scaffolding as needed to support structuresEnsure formwork is level, plumb, and properly aligned prior to concrete poursAssist with the placement, vibration, and finishing of concrete where requiredStrip and clean formwork after curing, and prepare materials for reuseWork collaboratively with site engineers, laborers, and other trades to meet project timelinesMaintain tools and equipment in positive working conditionFollow all site safety protocols, including use of PPE and adherence to WHS/OHS regulationsIdentify and report any safety hazards or structural concerns to the site supervisorKeep work areas clean, organized,



and free of hazardsRequired Qualifications & SkillsProven experience as a carpenter in civil or heavy construction projects (roads, bridges, drainage, marine works, etc.)Trade certification/qualification in Carpentry (or equivalent apprenticeship completion)Strong knowledge of formwork systems, concrete construction methods, and structural carpentryAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and specificationsProficiency with hand and power tools relevant to carpentry and formworkUnderstanding of site safety standards and construction regulationsPhysical fitness and ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and working at heightsGood communication and teamwork skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience with bridge, culvert, or retaining wall formworkWorking at Heights certificationWhite Card / Construction Induction Card (or regional equivalent)Forklift, crane dogging, or rigging tickets (advantageous but not essential)Prior experience on government or infrastructure projectsWork EnvironmentOutdoor construction site environment; exposure to varying weather conditionsMay require travel between project sitesPhysically demanding work involving standing, lifting, and repetitive tasksCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive hourly/salary rate based on experienceA good family business that works safe and takes pride in doing quality work
