Our people are at the heart of our success and we are proud of the collaborative and supportive culture we have created.About the RoleOur Queensland Cultural Heritage team delivers a diverse range of heritage services, with a strong focus on the successful delivery of cultural heritage projects for clients across multiple sectors.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Heritage Consultant to lead and manage projects involving Aboriginal cultural heritage desktop and field assessments, duty of care assessments, Aboriginal Party consultation and engagement, and the development of cultural heritage agreements, including Cultural Heritage Management Plans.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to projects across Australia as part of Umwelt's national Heritage team, including work in NSW, the ACT, Victoria and Western Australia, as well as occasional projects in other states and territories.
We are flexible and welcome applications from candidates located throughout Queensland.Key Responsibilities:Lead the delivery of commercial cultural heritage projects, with a primary focus on QueenslandUndertake desktop research, site investigations, identification of cultural heritage site and place types, assess risk of harm, significance,



impacts and made informed decisions and provide justifiable recommendationsProvide high quality technical advice to clients and regulators on cultural heritage matters and any approvals requirementsPrepare standard heritage documents in support of client's project needs, including, but not limited to, desktop constraints and risk assessments, duty of care assessments, cultural heritage field survey reports, impact assessmentsDeliver technical tasks and studies independently across standard project contexts, applying discipline knowledge and sound judgementPrepare technical reports and deliverables independently and review the work of junior team members, ensuring written outputs are accurate, clear and fit for purposeApply and interpret relevant legislation, guidelines and technical standards relevant to the disciplineAct as Project Manager on projects of low to moderate complexityAbout You:Tertiary qualification in anthropology, archaeology and/or cultural heritage management with a focus on the Australian contextMinimum of 5 year's experience in cultural heritage management practice in Queensland in a consulting or comparable environmentDemonstrated ability to deliver technical work independently across standard project contextsDemonstrated working knowledge of Queensland heritage and planning legislation, regulatory frameworks and approval pathways, particularly the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act **** and Queensland Heritage Act ****Experience contributing to client communication, project coordination and proposal developmentStrong written and verbal communication,
