Are you an experienced and compassionate Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)?
We are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive all-through SEND school in North Shields to recruit dedicated Teaching Assistants who are committed to helping pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Down syndrome, and moderate learning difficulties.

Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally, helping them to develop confidence, independence, and essential life skills.
Providing dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with complex ASC needs
Supporting communication, emotional regulation, and engagement with learning
Implementing structured routines and positive behaviour support strategies
Assisting with personal care where required, always promoting dignity, independence, and wellbeing
Working collaboratively with class teachers, the SENCO, therapists, and other professionals
Contributing to a calm, safe, and inclusive classroom environment where every pupil can succeed

Essential Requirements
Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
A good understanding of behaviour support, communication strategies, and sensory needs
A calm, positive, and nurturing approach
Willingness to provide personal care where required
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Desirable
Experience within a specialist SEND setting or ASC provision
Knowledge of autism-specific approaches such as visual supports, structured teaching, or Intensive Interaction
Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
