Porter Engineering are a fast growing company located in the heart of the Hawkesbury. We are looking to expand our workforce for a local manufacturer, and seeking 3-4 experienced Mechanical Fitters for an ongoing role. This is a hands-on role requiring competency for various responsibilities. Successful candidates will be responsible for breakdown maintenance, call outs, and additional shift coverage, with the expectation of keeping projects running efficiently. This position is rostered on a casual basis, with potential for full time contracted hours, and paid at an hourly rate (extra hours available if desired).
Key responsibilities:
Use of hand tools, power tools and precision measuring instruments
Working with mechanical systems and have a solid understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics and general engineering principles
Reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals and equipment specifications
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues efficiently
Solid attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards
Ability to work independently whilst also being a collaborative team member
Silo cleaning, general preventive maintenance, and breakdowns
Attending callouts and time tracking, both accurately and in a timely manner
Logging of maintenance on SCADA system
*Requirements:
Be fit and eligible to work, and hold either an Australian citizenship or working visa
Be Hawkesbury based or have a willingness to travel with a commitment to being at work on time
Hold a NSW drivers license
Trade qualifications or equivalent experience as a Fitter, Turner or Machinist, preferably with recognised credentials or apprenticeship completion
What's on offer:
5 days work minimum, full-time position
10 hour days paid at a flat rate
Penalties for over 10 hours, weekends, nights, and callouts
Regular weekend work available
Work car provided
Power tools provided
The ideal candidate will:
be available to work a minimum 5 days/week, 10 hours/day
have previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment or FMCG
have previous experience with MIG and TIG welding
have previous experience with breakdowns
have strong mechanical aptitude and practical skills in the use of hand tools, power tools and precision measuring instruments
have a strong levels of capability and problem-solving skills
be able to work independently and as part of a team
have strong commitment to workplace health and safety
have a willingness to undertake ongoing professional development and training
