An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Home Assessing Manager to lead and develop high-performing home assessing teams within a large, fast-paced insurance environment.
This role will suit a commercially minded leader with strong experience across home assessing, building repairs, restoration, insurance claims, supplier performance and operational leadership. You will be responsible for driving team performance, strengthening controls and operating rhythms, supporting capability development and ensuring quality outcomes are delivered for customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
This position will also involve travel.
About the Role
As the Home Assessing Manager, you will lead assessing teams with a focus on building a commercially sound strategy and maintaining consistent operational controls that drive performance. You will provide explicit direction, coaching and development to your team, ensuring each person understands their role, owns their accountability and has the skills to deliver against business objectives.
You will also act as a key liaison point across internal and external stakeholders, working closely with commercial, claims and supplier networks to support strong service delivery, compliance, governance and customer outcomes.
What you'll be doing
- Lead, coach and develop the Desktop Home Assessing Team, driving strong performance against KPIs, service standards and compliance requirements.
- Provide direction, support and mentoring to direct reports, ensuring accountability, engagement and capability across the team.
- Act as a key liaison for internal and external stakeholders, collaborating across the end-to-end Home value chain.
- Work closely with commercial stakeholders to vet, procure and govern supplier services within appropriate contractual and compliance frameworks.
- Monitor, audit and manage supplier performance nationally,
ensuring capacity, coverage and adherence to procurement protocols and best practice standards.
- Act as an escalation point for complex negotiations, disputes and high-profile claim matters.
- Identify and report on key trends, risks and opportunities across Home Assessing, supply and the broader building repair industry.
- Lead teams through change programs while maintaining strong knowledge of market developments, regulatory requirements, systems and products.
- Support governance, OH&S;, compliance and operational controls to ensure risks are effectively managed.
- Drive continuous improvement across people, process, supplier performance and customer outcomes.
About you
You will be a confident and experienced people leader with a strong background in home assessing, building repairs, restoration, insurance repairs or a related construction/claims environment. You will bring strong commercial judgment, excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to lead teams through operational complexity and change.
To be successful, you will ideally have:
- Extensive management experience, ideally with a minimum of 5 years leading teams and being accountable for business results.
- Strong knowledge of the Home Assessing, Building Repair and Restoration environment, including associated market practices and standards.
- Proven experience leading teams of professionals and driving high performance.
- Strong commercial acumen and experience contributing to or executing strategic programs of work.
- Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Strong understanding of supplier performance, procurement, compliance and governance frameworks.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong written communication skills, including accurate report writing.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- A practical, solutions-focused leadership style with the ability to drive performance, engagement and continuous improvement.
