Principal Procurement Specialist | Workforce, Vendor Management & Strategic Sourcing

6-Month Contract | Immediate Start | Queensland Based

We are currently seeking an experienced Principal Procurement Specialist to support a major national sourcing program within a large-scale resources environment.
This role will suit a hands-on procurement professional with strong experience across workforce sourcing, labour hire, MSP arrangements, sub-vendor management and vendor management, coupled with a broader sourcing strategy and category planning skillset.
We are specifically looking for candidates who can develop sourcing strategies, influence stakeholders, drive procurement improvements and deliver commercial outcomes, rather than those coming from heavily contracts-focused, claims, variations or EPCM-centric backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Category Planning

- Develop and execute sourcing strategies across labour, workforce and services categories.
- Build category plans and procurement roadmaps aligned to business objectives.
- Identify and evaluate sourcing opportunities through market analysis, supplier assessments and stakeholder engagement.
- Conduct spend, supplier and market analysis to support sourcing recommendations and commercial decision-making.
- Lead end-to-end sourcing activities including market engagement, RFPs, evaluations, negotiations and supplier selection.
- Develop business cases and procurement recommendations that deliver sustainable value outcomes.

Workforce, MSP & Vendor Management

- Support sourcing and management of labour hire, contingent workforce and operational services categories.
- Manage relationships across MSP providers, sub-vendor networks and broader supplier ecosystems.
- Drive supplier performance, governance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with supplier consolidation, vendor optimisation and workforce procurement strategies.
- Assess supplier capability, capacity, risk and performance to support operational requirements.

Procurement Leadership & Change

- Drive procurement improvements and contribute to broader procurement transformation initiatives.




- Challenge existing ways of working and identify opportunities to improve sourcing outcomes and commercial performance.
- Influence stakeholders across Procurement, Operations, HR, Finance and Commercial functions.
- Support governance, compliance and continuous improvement activities across sourcing and procurement processes.
- Act as a trusted advisor on sourcing strategy and supplier management matters.

About You
To be successful, you will demonstrate:

- Procurement experience within complex operational, industrial, mining or resources environments.
- Experience working with or managing MSP (Managed Service Provider) arrangements, sub-vendor networks and vendor management frameworks.
- Exposure to labour hire, contingent workforce, recruitment services or workforce sourcing categories.
- Strong sourcing strategy, category planning and procurement execution capability.
- Experience driving procurement improvements, business transformation or corporate change initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Ability to operate as a hands-on procurement skilled who can both develop strategy and deliver outcomes.

Highly Regarded

- Mining, resources, energy or heavy industry experience.
- Labour hire, workforce management or contingent workforce sourcing experience.
- Vendor governance, supplier performance management or supplier relationship management experience.
- Procurement transformation, sourcing optimisation or category management experience.
- Relevant procurement, supply chain, business or commercial qualifications.
