About the role

The Hungry Hog is seeking a skilled Butcher to join our team on a casual basis. Based in Kariong NSW 2250, this role offers flexibility and the opportunity to work with high-quality meat products in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. As a Butcher, you will be at the heart of our operation, ensuring every cut meets our standards and our customers receive exceptional service and products.

What you'll be doing

- Preparing and cutting meat to specific customer requirements and standard specifications

- Operating and maintaining butchery equipment safely and hygienically

- Ensuring all meat is stored and handled in accordance with food safety and hygiene regulations

- Preparing meat, and ensuring the display it is stocked, rotated and looking sharp all day

- Serving customers with a welcoming friendly attitude, professionalism and knowledge about meat products and cuts

- Maintaining detailed records of stock and wastage

- Adhering to all health, safety and food handling compliance requirements

- Contributing to a positive team environment and supporting colleagues during busy periods

What we're looking for

- Solid hands-on butchery experience — breaking down whole bodies and cutting boxed meat in a retail or wholesale environment.

- Solid knowledge of different meat cuts, quality standards and butchery techniques

- Proficient sausage making & linking skills

- An understanding of value adding

- Proficiency in operating butchery equipment safely and effectively

- A genuine, friendly manner with customers — this is a composite counter role & back-of-house. Sound knowledge of meat cuts, cooking recommendations etc

- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and meet production targets. In addition to the walk-in customers,



we also have orders from local food establishments that must be supplied on time.

About us

The Hungry Hog Butcher Shop is a brand new shop at Kariong on the Central Coast NSW, which is growing quickly. Developing a reputation for our quality meat and friendly service, we are striving to have every customer returning for more. Our butchery is a full body shop, providing a large range of cuts and cut to order, plus gourmet sausages and a growing range of value adding products. Customers come back for the team as much as the product, and that's exactly what we intend to keep building.

About the role

You'll join a small, tight-knit butchery team in a shop that values your input. We want someone who takes pride in the presentation of the display. It's hard graft in a fast-paced environment, but it's a great crew, a great place to work, and a role where the effort you put in gets noticed.

Offering approx 20-30 hours per week, with a view to full-time, as the shop grows. Mondays and Saturdays are required 7am-4pm, with flexibity for mid week hours depending on your availability and store orders.
