Join South Western Sydney Local Health District as an Aboriginal Mental Health Worker and play a vital role in supporting Aboriginal people, families and communities on their mental health and wellbeing journey. Working across Bowral, Tahmoor and Campbelltown, you will provide culturally safe, recovery-oriented mental health support and advocacy while helping to strengthen connections between consumers, families, community services and specialist mental health care.

As a valued member of a multidisciplinary team, you will bring an Aboriginal cultural perspective to assessment, care planning and service delivery. You will also contribute to mental health promotion, community engagement and the ongoing development of culturally appropriate and responsive mental health services across the region. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference while being supported to further develop your qualified skills and qualifications in mental health.

We are seeking a passionate and community-connected Aboriginal professional who is committed to improving mental health outcomes for Aboriginal people and families. You will have a strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, community strengths and the factors that influence social and emotional wellbeing, along with the ability to build trust and maintain effective relationships with consumers, families, community organisations and health professionals.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, advocate for culturally safe and person-centred care, and be confident balancing competing priorities in a dynamic service setting.



You will bring strong communication, documentation and relationship-building skills, along with a genuine commitment to continuous learning and supporting the development of culturally responsive mental health services.

- In this role being an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is a genuine occupational requirement. Tell us about your mob and connection to culture?
- Please describe a time when you advocated for the cultural needs of an Aboriginal person, family or community within a health, community or support service setting. What actions did you take, and what was the outcome?
- Please provide an example of how you have effectively managed competing demands while maintaining quality support and positive outcomes for clients, consumers or community members. How did you prioritise your work and ensure culturally appropriate service delivery?
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
