JobScout Pty Ltd are working to assist our client, Sanderi Enterprise Pty Ltd, an established Melbourne hospitality and accommodation operator.
Our client is seeking an experienced Accommodation and Hospitality Manager (nec) to join the team on a full-time, ongoing basis. The role is primarily based at Flinders Street Serviced Apartments, a 25-apartment serviced accommodation property in the Melbourne CBD. The successful applicant will also be required to work across the client's Clarendon Hotel site in South Melbourne as required, so willingness to travel between both sites is essential.
Responsibilities of our Accommodation and Hospitality Manager (nec) will include:
- Organising and controlling the day-to-day operations of the serviced apartment property and supporting operations at the hotel site, including front office, housekeeping, maintenance and guest services.
- Directing and overseeing reservations, reception, room service and housekeeping activities, managing room inventory and rate loading across booking channels, online travel agents and direct enquiries, and maximising occupancy and average daily rate.
- Greeting guests, managing check-in and check-out, and responding to guest requests, complaints and incidents to resolution.
- Conferring with guests to assess their satisfaction with accommodation, facilities and service, monitoring online reviews and feedback, and implementing service improvements.
- Planning and organising special functions, group bookings, extended-stay arrangements and corporate accounts.
- Arranging the purchasing and pricing of goods and consumables according to budget, including linen, amenities, cleaning supplies and food and beverage stock, and negotiating with suppliers and contractors.
- Maintaining records of stock levels, inventory and financial transactions, including daily takings, banking, invoicing, accounts and reconciliation of property management system reports.
- Preparing and monitoring operating budgets, tracking revenue and expenditure against forecast, and reporting on trading performance to the owners.
- Selecting, training, rostering and supervising front office, housekeeping, maintenance and food and beverage staff across both sites, and managing performance, leave and payroll input.
- Monitoring quality at all stages of the preparation and presentation of food and services, and ensuring the properties comply with health, safety, food safety, liquor licensing, fire and building regulations, and that all areas are clean, functional and of suitable appearance.
- Coordinating property maintenance, repairs, cleaning schedules, room inspections and refurbishment works, and liaising with contractors and building management.
- Maintaining and updating the property management, booking and point-of-sale systems, and preparing periodic operational and compliance reporting.
- Implementing security, key control, cash handling and emergency procedures, and managing incident reporting across both sites.
To Be Successfully Considered For The Role, You:
- Hold an AQF associate degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in hospitality management, business, tourism or a related discipline. At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above. In some instances, relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.
- Have a minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in an accommodation, serviced apartment or hotel management role.
- Have demonstrated experience managing reservations, occupancy and rates across booking channels and online travel agents.
- Have experience recruiting, rostering, training and supervising front office, housekeeping and hospitality staff.
- Are confident managing budgets, stock, supplier accounts, daily takings and financial reporting.
- Are competent with property management systems, booking platforms and point-of-sale software.
- Have a sound working knowledge of WHS, food safety, liquor licensing and accommodation compliance obligations.
- Have excellent guest service and communication skills, with a calm and professional approach to complaints and incidents.
- Are well organised, hands-on and able to work across multiple sites and outside standard hours where operationally required.
- Maintain a professional attitude and a 'can do' approach at all times.
