Introduction

Step behind the scenes at the Saints and gain practical experience in the analysis behind an elite football program.

The Saints Football Analysis Academy gives university students the chance to support the Club’s Football Analysis Department and learn how analysis helps Coaches and Analysts prepare, review and improve performance. Academy Members will work with match and training vision, contribute to analytical projects and help provide accurate information across key phases of the game.

Based at RSEA Park, the placement will support the AFL and VFL programs and will commence in mid to late November 2026.

Description

What You’ll Be Doing

- Code AFL and VFL games using Sportscode, creating finer details of the various phases of the game.
- Complete analytical projects utilising the data and vision created through the coding process, and also statistics generated by Champion Data.
- Film training sessions with one of the IP cameras situated either side on or behind the goals.
- Code training sessions to assess drill specificity and skill acquisition requirements.
- Support coaches and analysts during weekend VFL games, when required.





Participate in development sessions to further enhance skills necessary to provide quality analysis to the Coaching Department.

Skills and Experiences

Essential Requirements

- This work placement opportunity is only open to university students with a course requirement to complete placement or practicum hours in 2027.
- Working with Children’s Card.
- Ability to get to and from RSEA Park, Moorabbin, in a punctual manner.

Desirable
- Work experience within the sports industry.
- Sound knowledge of Australian Rules Football.
- Proficiency using Mac computers.
- Knowledge and use of Hudl products, including Sportscode.
- Weekend Availability
