About the role

As the Second in Charge (2IC), you will play a critical role in supporting the management team to maximise store profitability, uphold operational standards, and lead a high performing team. You will step into full leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Store Manager and ensure smooth, effective, and customer focused operations at all times.

Key responsibilities

- Support the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations

- Resolve customer issues by identifying effective and timely solutions

- Drive sales and profitability by identifying opportunities for growth

- Lead, motivate, and develop team members to deliver exceptional service

- Manage staff performance and address employee issues professionally

- Coordinate stock management, including stock filling, rotation, and code checks

- Work in freezer and cool room environments as required

- Ensure compliance with store standards, security procedures, and safe work practices

- Maintain high housekeeping and presentation standards





- Communicate effectively with suppliers, customers, and internal teams

About you

- Significant supermarket or retail experience is essential

- Proven leadership capability with the ability to motivate and guide a team

- Strong operational experience across stock management, inventory control, and front end/office functions

- Hands on, proactive, and solutions focused approach

- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills

- High attention to detail with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines

- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to enforce store standards consistently

- Work effectively as part of a team and lead by example

- Hold a current Police Clearance

- Hold a valid RSA certificate
