About The Role The Associate Director, Transactions and Structuring (Legal) supports the finance/grant documentation for Housing Australia’s NHIF Crisis and Transitional Housing grant product, and the existing loan book while ensuring all legal advice, and finance documentation, is aligned with Housing Australia’s investment mandate and policies. You will manage multiple transactions independently and instruct and coordinate external legal advisors.
In addition, this role partners closely with investment teams to provide legal advice in relation to financing documentation and to help resolve complex commercial and legal issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead transaction legal advisory, partnering with investment teams to deliver commercially sound, risk-aligned outcomes
- Oversee documentation, ensuring all finance documents are accurate, consistent and aligned with approvals and policy frameworks
- Drive risk management, identify, assess and mitigate legal and commercial risks in line with organisational risk appetite
- Orchestrate transaction delivery and team contribution, coordinating stakeholders, and contributing to a high-performance, governance-focused team culture
Skills and Experiences
Skills And Experience
- Banking & finance legal expertise from private practice and/or in-house environments, with experience with finance transactions, ideally in Project Finance and/or Real Estate Finance (but not essential)
- Commercial advisory capability, providing independent, strategic legal advice on finance transactions that balances commercial outcomes and risk
- Documentation and technical proficiency, including leading finance, security and intercreditor documentation (including by instructing external legal counsel) across diverse financing structures and products
- Risk leadership, with a proven track record identifying, assessing and mitigating legal and commercial risks in complex transactions
- Stakeholder management and delivery excellence, partnering with investment teams, influencing sophisticated counterparties and managing multiple transactions in fast-paced environments while maintaining high quality standards
