We are seeking enthusiastic and customer-focused Bistro Team Members to join us on a casual basis. Based in Alberton, in the northern Gold Coast farming district. This role offers the perfect opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced hospitality environment whilst maintaining flexibility in your work schedule.

As a Bistro Team Member, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional service to our guests, ensuring their dining experience is memorable and enjoyable. This position is integral to maintaining the high standards of service that define The Gem Hotel and contributes directly to guest satisfaction and loyalty.

Key responsibilities

- Greeting guests warmly and seating them at tables in a timely and courteous manner
- Taking food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently, whilst providing knowledgeable recommendations
- Serving meals and drinks promptly whilst maintaining attention to detail and presentation standards
- Clearing tables promptly and maintaining a clean and organised dining area throughout service
- Processing payments using the point-of-sale system and handling cash transactions accurately
- Responding to guest queries and special requests with professionalism and a positive attitude
- Collaborating with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service flow and guest satisfaction
- Maintaining knowledge of menu items, dietary requirements and allergen information
- Following health and safety procedures and maintaining high standards of personal hygiene
- Supporting the team during peak service times and assisting with general tidying and restocking duties

What we're looking for at The Gem;

- Previous experience working as waiting staff or in a similar hospitality role is highly desirable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage positively with guests and colleagues




- A professional and presentable appearance with the ability to maintain this throughout your shift
- Excellent time management and the ability to prioritise tasks during busy service periods
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality service consistently
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to a casual work schedule as required
- A proactive approach with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Basic numeracy skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems is advantageous
- Knowledge of food safety and handling practices or willingness to undertake training
- A positive attitude, reliability and genuine passion for hospitality
