Behaviour Therapy Assistant (Disability Support Worker)
About Kevria
Kevria is a registered NDIS provider on the Mid North Coast, supporting people with disability to live the life they choose - whether that's in their own home through Supported Independent Living (SIL), or out in the community building skills and independence through our Community Access team.
We're growing, and we're looking for positive humans who want to do meaningful work - not just fill a shift.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting participants with daily living, personal care, community access and skill-building, depending on the role
- Following individual support plans and, where relevant, behaviour support strategies
- Writing clear, factual progress notes and completing documentation on time
- Working independently and confidently, while knowing when to ask for help or escalate a concern
- Being a steady, reliable presence for the people you support
What we're actually looking for
We don't simply hire people with the "right" qualifications. Plenty of of our staff had with no disability sector background at all who turned out to be exceptional. We aren't simply screening on people on resume alone. We're looking for people who can show us:
- Reliability — you show up, and you understand that when you don't, it affects a real person's day
- Accountability — you own your mistakes, you take feedback well and you don't need someone watching over your shoulder to do the right thing
- Genuine respect — for the people you support, their choices, their culture, and their right to dignity and independence, even when they choose differently than you would
- Good judgement — you know the difference between a situation you can handle and one you need to escalate, and you're not afraid to ask
- Qualified boundaries — warm and caring, without blurring the lines
If that sounds like you,
we're far more interested in that than in a certificate.
What you'll need
- Full working rights in Australia
- A current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to apply for one — we'll guide you through it)
- A current driver's licence and reliable transport (most of our roles involve community access or travel between shifts)
- Genuine availability that matches what you tell us — we'd rather know your real hours upfront
- Certificate III in Individual Support is well regarded but not required — we offer a supported pathway to gain one while you work, for the right candidate
What Kevria offers
- A Captain or Senior BTA in your corner — an experienced team lead you can call who's there to support you, not just supervise you
- Regular supervision and check-ins, so problems get caught early, not at the end of a bad year
- A workplace that takes character seriously — if you're the kind of person who does the right thing when no one's watching, you'll fit in here
How to apply
Send us your resume and a few lines about why disability support interests you — we'd genuinely rather hear that than a generic cover letter. If it looks like a good fit, here's what happens next:
1. A relaxed 10–15 minute phone chat with our HR team
2. A short interview — we'll ask about real situations, not trick questions
3. A practical conversation with the team you'd actually be working alongside
We move quickly once we find the right person, and we're genuinely happy to talk to people making a career change, returning to work, or trying disability support for the first time.
Our Culture
We believe in transparency, feedback and doing better, together. We’re not perfect, but we’re committed.
If you’re ready to work somewhere that values who you are as much as what you do - apply now.
Kevria Empathy. Communication. Integrity.
