Tarkine Consulting Group has been engaged, on a confidential and retained basis, to find a Business Development Manager for a fast-growing technology consulting firm building genuinely agentic AI solutions for Australian enterprise. Our client helps businesses replace slow, manual, people-heavy operations with AI-led managed services — deploying agentic AI across functions like customer service, collections, accounts receivable and payable, and loan processing. With a delivery footprint across Australia and Manila, they pair proprietary IP with hands-on onshore/offshore delivery teams to run these functions end-to-end on behalf of their clients.
The results speak for themselves: for one lending client, our client's platform took loan processing from a multi-day, manual process to a single day, fully automated — helping that client win a national award for fastest lender in Australia. A refreshed brand and website are launching shortly, and the business is now looking for someone to build its next wave of managed service contracts and open new client relationships beyond its current base.
Why Apply?
- Proven results, not theory: real, measurable client outcomes — including award-winning, fully automated loan processing for a lending client, cutting turnaround from days to one.
- Proprietary IP and platform: a productised set of agentic automation modules — customer service, order-to-cash, collections, loan processing — delivered through onshore/offshore managed service teams of 8–20 people on multi-year engagements.
- Sales support most BDMs don't get: an internally-built lead generation engine running 24/7 across LinkedIn and other channels, qualifying CIOs, platform managers and business buyers, and feeding warm, tracked leads straight into the CRM.
- Direct access to the Founder: work closely with the business's Founder/Director on strategy, pricing and solutioning, with no layers of management in between.
- A ground-floor opportunity to help rebuild the sales engine as the business repositions around AI-led managed services.
What You'll Do
- Own the full sales cycle for the business's managed services offering — from qualifying inbound and outbound leads through to proposal, negotiation and close.
- Build relationships with CIOs, COOs, Heads of Operations and Customer Service, and other business buyers, translating their operational pain points into a case for AI-led managed services.
- Work closely with the delivery and solutioning team to shape and price winning proposals for complex, multi-year managed service engagements.
- Use, and help refine, the business's internal LinkedIn lead-generation and CRM system to convert a steady flow of qualified leads into pipeline.
- Represent the business's automation and managed services capability in market, with a sharper, AI-led story built around real client outcomes.
- Help build out new managed service contracts — loan processing, collections, customer service, order-to-cash — as the business diversifies its client base.
What You Bring
- Experience selling complex, multi-year services or managed service engagements — not just point solutions or software licences.
- Genuine credibility discussing business process, operations and automation with senior stakeholders, and comfort translating between business requirements and technology delivery.
- A track record of converting relationships into revenue — whether you're an emerging BD professional who is hungry to build a career on the back of a strong product and genuine leads, or a more experienced enterprise seller.
A large contact book on its own isn't enough; our client is looking for someone who can close.
- A self-starter mentality and comfort with a proactive, high-volume outreach cadence (LinkedIn, direct outreach, networking) — this is a pipeline-building role, not an order-taking one.
- Based in Sydney (strongly preferred); Melbourne-based candidates will also be considered.
What's on Offer
- Base salary in the range of $120,000–$160,000, plus an uncapped commission structure.
- A genuinely differentiated platform to sell — proprietary IP, live case studies and an in-house lead-generation engine feeding your pipeline.
- Direct access to the Founder/Director for deal support, pricing and solutioning.
- Career growth as the business scales its managed services offering beyond its current client base.
