Gray Solutions Group is looking for a Carpenter or experienced Trade Assistant to join our growing outdoor construction team.

Our work is heavily focused on retaining wall construction and replacement, along with fencing, decks and other outdoor construction projects throughout Moreton Bay and North Brisbane.

We're open to either a qualified carpenter or someone who isn't formally qualified but has genuine hands-on construction experience and knows their way around a job site.

The Work

The majority of the role will involve:

- Concrete sleeper retaining walls
- Timber retaining walls
- Removal and replacement of existing retaining walls
- Excavation, post holes and site preparation
- Drainage and backfilling
- Timber, Colorbond and aluminium fencing

You'll also work across:
- Decks
- Pergolas and patios
- Sheds, carports and garages
- General carpentry and outdoor construction

This isn't a basic labouring position. We're looking for someone who can work productively on the tools, think ahead and take ownership of their part of the job.

Who We're Looking For

You may be a qualified carpenter, or you might be an experienced TA / construction worker without the formal qualification. Either way, we're more interested in what you can actually do.

Ideally you'll have experience in some combination of retaining walls, fencing, landscaping, carpentry, concreting, excavation or general residential construction.

You should be

- Confident using construction and power tools
- Able to work from measurements and levels
- Comfortable with physically demanding work
- Able to work independently once given direction
- Reliable and organised
- Comfortable working as part of a small crew




- Someone who takes pride in the finished product

Experience operating an excavator, skid steer or other earthmoving equipment would be highly regarded.

Opportunity to Step Up

For the right person, there is an prospect to develop into a Leading Hand role. That means helping run the physical day-to-day works onsite, coordinating the crew and materials, keeping jobs moving and working closely with the business owner who manages the overall project and supervision.

We're looking for someone who wants more responsibility as the business grows — not someone who needs to be told what to do every five minutes.

Requirements

- Construction industry experience
- White Card
- Current driver's licence and reliable transport
- Own basic hand tools preferred
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to work outdoors and undertake physical work

Carpentry or landscaping qualifications are advantageous but NOT essential for an experienced candidate.
