About the role

Aussie Early Learning is seeking a passionate and skilled Centre Cook to join our team on a part-time basis at our Falcon, WA location. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious, appetising and developmentally appropriate meals and snacks for our early learning community.

As Centre

Cook, you will play a vital role in supporting the health, wellbeing and development of the children in our care, whilst ensuring all food preparation meets the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. This position is essential to creating a positive dining experience that promotes healthy eating habits and cultural awareness through food.

Key responsibilities

- Plan and prepare nutritious, age-appropriate meals and snacks in accordance with Australian dietary guidelines and centre policies
- Maintain a clean, hygienic and well-organised kitchen environment, adhering to food safety standards and regulations
- Manage kitchen inventory, including ordering, storing and rotating food supplies to minimise waste
- Accommodate children's dietary requirements, allergies and cultural food preferences, communicating effectively with educators and families
- Prepare meals that support children's learning and development, including opportunities for children to engage with food preparation activities
- Follow all relevant food handling and safety protocols, including proper storage and preparation of food items
- Maintain detailed records of meals prepared and any dietary or allergenic incidents




- Work collaboratively with educators and centre management to support the overall wellbeing of children and staff
- Ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety requirements within the kitchen environment

What we're looking for

- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene practices and Australian dietary guidelines for early learning settings
- Ability to plan and prepare meals that cater to diverse dietary requirements, allergies and cultural preferences
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prepare meals for multiple age groups simultaneously
- Understanding of early childhood development and how nutrition supports learning and wellbeing
- Food Safety Supervisor certificate or willingness to obtain one
- Working with Children Check (or eligibility to obtain one) as required by Western Australian regulations
- Robust communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy early learning workplace
- A genuine passion for supporting children's health and wellbeing through quality nutrition
- Experience in budget management and food cost control is highly desirable
