Centre Director / Nominated Supervisor
Cooma School for Early Learning | Cooma, NSW | Full-time Cooma School for Early Learning is seeking an experienced and passionate Centre Director / Nominated Supervisor to lead our family-owned early learning service in Cooma NSW.
We are an 81-place service providing high-quality education and care in a warm, welcoming and supportive workplace. As a family-owned service, we value strong relationships with our children, families, educators and our local community.

You will play a critical role in creating and maintaining a solid child-safe culture, supporting your team to uphold high professional standards and ensuring every child is safe, respected and valued.
About the role
As Centre Director / Nominated Supervisor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and operation of the service. Working closely with our management team, you will lead a positive and capable team while ensuring the service operates in accordance with the National Quality Framework, National Law and Regulations.
Your responsibilities will include
- Leading, supporting and developing a team of early childhood educators
- Promoting and embedding a strong child-safe culture throughout the service
- Ensuring the safety, rights and best interests of children are the paramount consideration in decision-making and daily practice
- Ensuring the service meets its obligations under the National Quality Framework, National Law and Regulations
- Supporting and maintaining high-quality educational programs and practice
- Building strong, respectful relationships with children, families, educators and the local community
- Managing day-to-day centre operations
- Supporting continuous improvement through the SAT and Quality Improvement Plan and ongoing critical reflection
- Creating a positive, professional and accountable workplace culture
- Supporting staff to understand and meet their child protection, mandatory reporting and child safety obligations
- Managing concerns, complaints and incidents appropriately and ensuring children and families feel safe to speak up
- Supporting child-safe recruitment, induction and ongoing employment practices
- Working closely with the management team on the ongoing growth and success of the service
About you
We are looking for a genuine and capable people leader who is passionate about early childhood education. You will be organised, approachable and confident in making decisions. You will understand the responsibility that comes with leading an education and care service and be committed to creating an environment where children are safe, respected, listened to and supported.
To be successful, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Centre Director, Nominated Supervisor or in a senior leadership role within early childhood education and care
- An ACECQA-approved Diploma or Bachelor qualification in Early Childhood Education
- A strong understanding of the National Quality Framework, National Law and National Regulations
- A demonstrated commitment to child safety, children's rights and the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations
- Strong knowledge of child protection, mandatory reporting and safeguarding responsibilities
- Experience leading and supporting educators to maintain professional boundaries and high standards of conduct
- Experience supporting teams through coaching, mentoring and professional development
- Strong communication, leadership and relationship-building skills
- Sound organisational and problem-solving skills
- A current NSW Working with Children Check
- Gecko training
- Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis training
