Precise Pallet Management
Croydon
Do you like problem solving?
You may not have heard of pallet control. That's fine, we teach that.
We're more interested in how you think.
Precise Pallet Management (PPM) is a specialist Australian business that manages pallet accounts for organisations across Australia and New Zealand. We work with global companies and some of Australia's largest brands, helping them control the financial and operational risks associated with CHEP and Loscam hire equipment.
We're looking for someone who can become excellent at managing pallet accounts and, if you have the ambition, go well beyond that.
You may choose to lead a team, build systems and processes or master the technical discipline.
First, though, you need to learn the work.
What does pallet control involve?
Most of our work starts because something hasn't gone according to plan.
Information is missing. Transactions don't reconcile. A process hasn't been followed. Two sets of data tell different stories & something doesn't make sense.
The issue may look insignificant to somebody else, but we see that it carries substantial financial consequence for our client.
Your job is to understand the risk, determine what needs to be done and make sure it gets resolved. Then take it further: Why did it happen? Can we prevent it? Can we automate it?
You'll start by learning PPM's systems and methodology and taking responsibility for client pallet accounts. You'll work with systems and data, communicate with clients and supply-chain stakeholders, investigate discrepancies and learn to recognise when something isn't right, even when the data initially suggests that it is.
Over time,
we want you to understand what sits behind the work, recognise patterns, question why problems occur and contribute ideas about how we can do things better.
Who we are looking for
You don't need pallet-control experience.
Supply-chain or logistics experience is useful, but we're equally interested in solid candidates from other analytical, administrative or data-focused backgrounds.
Perhaps you're the person colleagues give the messy spreadsheet to when nobody can work out what's happened, or you simply enjoy rolling up your sleeves and finding answers.
We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Strong Excel and data capability
- A critical-thinking and problem-solving mindset
- The ability to understand how processes, systems and data fit together
- Clear and constructive communication with clients and stakeholders
- Strong organisation, time management and attention to detail
- Curiosity, sound judgement and the confidence to ask questions when something doesn't make sense
You don't need to know everything, but you do need to know when to say "Good question, I'll find out." People management experience would be a significant advantage, and project management experience would be highly regarded. Neither is essential.
What working at PPM is like
We're a small business that cares about accuracy,
quality and client outcomes, and that comes with some genuine advantages.
Your contribution is visible and you'll have access to the people making decisions. If you identify a better way of doing something, you'll have the opportunity to help build it.
There's plenty of support while you learn: documented processes, experienced Specialists, daily team connection, weekly workload reviews and direct access to the business owner.
We offer flexibility around how people manage their working day and, in return, we expect accountability.
You need to be persistent without being antagonistic, analytical without losing sight of the people involved, and capable of turning a complicated issue into something a client can understand.
If that sounds satisfying rather than frustrating, you'll probably enjoy the work.
What we offer
- Starting at $73,000 + super, with capacity to pay more for demonstrated experience and capability
- Flexible start and finish times
- A primarily office-based role, with flexibility to work from home when needed
- Exposure to major Australian businesses and supply-chain operations
- Opportunities to develop into leadership, projects, systems or specialist work
We're prepared to invest in the right person's development and reward increasing capability and responsibility. Interested?
If you're reading this thinking, I know nothing about pallets, but this sounds like the type of thinking and work I'm into, we want to hear from you.
Applicants must have the right to work in Australia. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
