About the role The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for leading, developing and coordinating education, training and clinical competency programs across Sunshine Clinic Private Hospital. The role supports the delivery of safe, high-quality, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed mental health care by building workforce capability and promoting best practice.

The Clinical Nurse

Educator contributes to the education of all levels of clinical staff through the design and delivery of orientation programs, in-service education, mandatory training, and competency-based learning frameworks. The role plays a key part in supporting staff to develop clinical skills, critical thinking, and professional practice in line with contemporary mental health standards.

Key responsibilities

- Provide clinical leadership to support the delivery of safe, high-quality, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed mental health care
- Lead and coordinate education, orientation, mandatory training and competency-based learning programs across the service
- Identify learning needs and implement targeted education strategies to support workforce capability and clinical excellence
- Develop, deliver and evaluate in-service education programs aligned with organisational priorities and clinical risk areas
- Support staff to develop clinical skills, critical thinking and qualified practice within their scope of practice
- Facilitate and assess clinical competencies for new and existing staff, including mandatory and department-specific requirements
- Provide clinical support,



coaching and mentorship to nursing staff, graduate nurses and students
- Promote best practice in clinical care, including risk assessment, de-escalation, documentation and multidisciplinary care planning
- Participate in clinical governance activities including audits, incident review, education following incidents, and quality improvement initiatives
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of education programs and implement improvements where required

About you

- Relevant registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia
- Relevant post-graduate qualification plus 3 years' experience working in mental health OR a minimum of 4 years post-basic registration experience, including 3 years' experience in mental health
- Knowledge of work contracts and methods of assisting and facilitating learning
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required
- Computer literacy in all Microsoft Software applications
- Certificate IV Workplace Training & Assessment
- Desirable: Completed Preceptorship Program
- Desirable: Excellent time management skills
