Role Title: Senior Software Engineer

n

Salary: $170,000 - $180,000 + Super

n

Location + WFH Flexibility: Sydney CBD | Hybrid Working (2 days in office)

Role Details:

n

As a senior member of the engineering team, you will play a key role in shaping architecture, reviewing code, mentoring engineers and delivering high-quality software across a modern technology stack.

n

This is a hands‐on technical leadership role where you'll spend approximately 50% of your time building software and 50% of your time driving engineering excellence through collaboration, design reviews and technical decision‐making.

n

Working closely with founders, product and engineering teams, you'll have the opportunity to solve complex technical challenges while helping scale a platform used by leading retail and consumer brands.

n

Key Responsibilities:

n

- Deliver production-grade features across the stack, with a strong focus on backend development
n
- Lead code reviews and establish best practices across the engineering function
n
- Contribute to architecture and system design discussions
n
- Collaborate closely with Product and Design teams to deliver customer-focused solutions
n




- Drive adoption of modern AI-assisted development practices and tooling
n
- Mentor junior engineers and help elevate technical standards
n
- Own projects end-to-end from design through deployment and optimisation
n

n

Required Skills & Experience:

n

n
- Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer, Staff Engineer or Technical Lead
n
- Robust backend engineering expertise, ideally within Python-based environments
n
- Excellent Computer Science fundamentals including software design, algorithms and data structures
n
- Experience designing and building scalable production systems
n
- Strong code review and technical leadership capability
n
- Comfortable influencing technical direction and challenging ideas constructively
n
- Experience working in high-performing engineering environments
n
- Passion for leveraging AI tools to improve software development productivity and quality
n

Nice to Have:

- Experience with Python, Flask, FastAPI, React, React Native or TypeScript
n
- Experience with cloud-native or serverless architectures
n
- Strong SQL and database optimisation skills
n
- Exposure to e-commerce, payments or transactional platforms

- Experience working within recognised technology, product or data-driven organisations
