Craft u0026 Soul

Sydney

Love people? Love making things run smoothly? Weirdly excited by a good spreadsheet, a spotless space and finding a smarter way to do something? We might be looking for you.

Craft & Soul is a creative community space in Manly where people come to learn, make, connect and have a really lovely time. We're looking for a high-energy, people-loving, seriously organised and tech-savvy person to join our team and help keep the whole place running beautifully.

This is a hands-on role. You'll be out front chatting to customers, helping people find what they need and making sure the shop feels fantastic — while also keeping on top of the systems, stock, operations and little details that make everything work behind the scenes. And yes, being crafty is a bonus. But you won't be crafting during your shift! Your job is to make sure everyone else has an amazing experience.

What you'll be doing

1. Customers & community

- Welcome customers and make everyone feel genuinely comfortable
- Chat with customers, understand what they're looking for and help them find the right products or workshops
- Create a warm, energetic and welcoming atmosphere
- Help customers with bookings, purchases and general questions
- Support workshops and events, including set-up and pack-down
- Build relationships with our regular customers and creative community

2. Operations & systems

- Keep the shop running smoothly day-to-day
- Manage opening and closing procedures
- Keep stock organised and spot when things need attention
- Maintain and improve checklists, processes and operational systems
- Help with stock ordering and inventory management
- Identify things that aren't working and figure out how to improve them
- Take ownership of operational projects rather than waiting to be told what to do
- Help us turn messy or manual processes into simple, repeatable systems

We'd love someone who sees a repetitive task and thinks: "How could we make this easier?"

3. Technology, AI & getting things done

We're a small, growing business and we want to work smarter, not just harder.

We're looking for someone who is comfortable with technology and genuinely curious about how it can improve the way we work.

You might already be comfortable with:

- Google Sheets / Excel
- Canva
- AI tools such as ChatGPT
- Google Workspace
- Creating trackers, templates and easy systems

- Finding clever solutions to problems
- Automating repetitive tasks

You don't need to be a programmer or an AI expert. We're much more interested in someone who is curious and resourceful — the kind of person who will happily spend 20 minutes figuring out how to make a process better rather than doing the same annoying task every week forever.

4. Keeping the space beautiful

This is important!

Craft & Soul is a physical space and keeping it clean, organised and beautiful is a huge part of the customer experience.

You'll be expected to

- Keep the shop tidy throughout the day
- Clean and reset customer areas
- Keep displays looking great
- Organise stock and supplies
- Notice the little things that need doing
- Leave the space better than you found it

If you genuinely enjoy tidying and organising, you'll probably love this job. The person we're looking for is...

A people person.

You naturally enjoy talking to people and making them feel welcome. You're warm, energetic and comfortable chatting to strangers.

High energy.

You enjoy being busy, being on your feet and having lots happening around you. You don't wilt when things get hectic.

Operationally minded.

You like systems, checklists, organisation and getting things done. You notice inefficiencies and want to fix them.

Proactive.

You don't need someone standing over you telling you what to do. When you've finished one task, you look around and find the next useful thing.

Tech-savvy.

You're comfortable learning new tools and figuring things out. You don't need to know everything — you need to be willing to work it out.

AI-curious.

You've experimented with AI to solve problems, save time, create things or organise information — or you're genuinely excited to learn how.

Creative.

You have an interest in craft, art, design, making or creativity. You don't need to be an expert — just genuinely interested.

A little bit obsessed with organisation.

A beautifully labelled cupboard makes you happy.

A well-built spreadsheet is satisfying. You notice when things aren't where they should be.

This probably isn't the job for you if...

- You want a job where you can sit quietly and make things all day
- You don't enjoy interacting with customers
- You hate cleaning
- You need to be told what to do constantly
- You don't enjoy being busy or having lots of things happening at once
- You'd rather stick to "that's not my job" than figure something out
- Technology makes you want to throw your laptop out the window

But if you love people, love a busy setting, get excited by systems and genuinely enjoy making things work better... we'd love to hear from you.

Your background

You might have experience in:

- Retail
- Hospitality
- Events
- Customer experience
- Operations
- Studio or venue coordination
- Administration
- Community spaces
- Small business
- Project coordination

But we're much more interested in how you think and work than having the perfect resume.

You don't need to have done this exact job before. We're looking for someone who is reliable, switched-on, curious, energetic and takes pride in what they do.

What you'll get

- A role in a unique creative community space in Manly
- A lovely, creative team
- Variety — no two days are exactly the same
- The opportunity to take real ownership and improve how things work
- The chance to learn about the running of a growing small business
- Staff perks and discounts
- A role where your ideas and initiative are genuinely valued

Location: Manly, NSW

Employment type: Casual / Part-time

Hours: 20-30 hours per week

Pay: $30-40 per hour

How to apply

We'd love to hear a little about how you think, not just see your resume.

Please send us your resume and answer these four questions:

- Tell us about something you've organised, improved or made more efficient that you're weirdly proud of.
- Tell us about a time you've used technology, AI or a clever system to make something easier, faster or more organised.
- Imagine it's a busy Saturday at Craft & Soul. There's a queue at the till, a workshop is starting in 10 minutes, the stockroom is messy and someone needs help finding a product. What do you do?
- What's your favourite craft, creative hobby or thing you love making?

We can't wait to meet you! ✨
