About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer / Data & AI Consultant to design and develop modern data solutions across data engineering, data modelling and data visualisation.
The role requires strong technical expertise, independent problem-solving capability and the ability to engage confidently with client stakeholders.
The successful candidate will work across complex data initiatives, including Data Lakes, Lakehouse, Data Warehousing, Cloud and AI solutions, while also providing technical leadership and mentoring to junior team members.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Design and develop technical solutions to complex business problems with minimal supervision.
- Design and deliver contemporary data platform and AI solutions.
- Develop solutions across data engineering, data modelling, data integration and data visualisation.
- Apply best practices across Data Lake, Lakehouse and Data Warehouse environments.
- Work with cloud platforms including Azure and/or AWS.
- Support data ingestion, ETL and, where required, IoT and stream analytics solutions.
- Develop and optimise SQL, Python and data processing solutions.
- Work with technologies such as Databricks and Spark.
- Develop dashboards and visualisations using Power BI or similar tools.
- Contribute to solution architecture, technical design and acceptance testing.
- Lead small technical teams of approximately 3–4 people where required.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior developers and specialists.
- Troubleshoot production issues and identify opportunities for process and solution improvements.
- Engage with client stakeholders from technical teams through to senior management and establish trusted-advisor relationships.
- Contribute to technical proposals, bids, pre-sales activities and solution design.
- Identify opportunities for additional services and follow-on business.
- Produce technical design, testing and project documentation.
- Ensure delivery meets agreed scope, quality, timelines and budget.
- Stay current with emerging data and cloud technologies and maintain relevant certifications.
Requirements and Experience
- Strong SQL skills.
- Strong experience in Data Engineering and/or Data Visualisation.
- Good understanding of Data Warehousing.
- Experience with Data Lake / Lakehouse architectures.
- Experience with Azure or AWS Cloud.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies.
- Strong stakeholder management and client engagement skills.
- Professional consulting and communication skills.
- Experience delivering projects within agreed time and budget constraints.
- Strong understanding of Data Modelling and Data Integration.
- Key focus: SQL + Data Engineering + Data Lake/Lakehouse + Data Warehousing + Azure/AWS + Databricks/Spark + Python/Power BI.
Contract Duration: 6 months
