• Training, professional development and Aboriginal media capability opportunities

• Workplace flexibility and staff health and wellbeing initiatives

• The chance to work with communities, creators and partners across Central and remote Australia

About Imparja Television

Imparja Television is a 100% Aboriginal-owned, independent, not-for-profit commercial television broadcaster based in Alice Springs. Established in 1987 and first going to air in January 1988, Imparja is one of the original Aboriginal television broadcasters in Australia and has played a defining role in bringing Aboriginal voices, stories and perspectives to Australian screens.

Today, Imparja operates 28 retransmission sites across a footprint of more than 3.6 million square kilometres, reaching more than 200 remote Aboriginal communities and an estimated daily audience of more than one million viewers. Imparja is now extending that reach beyond broadcast through a connected content network across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn.

About the Role

This is a senior, hands-on digital editorial and production role. It is not an entry-level social media position. The Digital Producer will lead the day-to-day execution of Imparja’s Digital & Cultural Media Strategy and turn an ambitious content plan into a consistent, high-quality publishing engine.

You will own digital content planning, platform management, publishing, audience growth, analytics and optimisation. You will also produce and package platform-native content, coordinate internal and external contributors, and help build an evergreen content library across Imparja’s four content pillars:

Country & Culture; People of the Central Deserts; Making & Knowledge; and Community Voice & Impact.

Working with the Executive of Cultural Media & Innovation, Senior Producer and Videographer & Editor, you will bring strong editorial judgement, mature production skills and a sharp understanding of what makes audiences watch, share and return.

What You Will Lead

• Own Imparja’s digital editorial calendar across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn.

• Develop, produce, script, shoot, edit, package and publish platform-native content, including short-form video, mini-documentaries, event coverage, explainers, profiles, stills and corporate content.

• Translate the annual Cultural Production Calendar and Content Commitments Framework into achievable production and publishing schedules.

• Drive audience growth and engagement using data to refine formats, cadence, titles, thumbnails, captions and distribution.

• Manage platform administration, scheduling, metadata, moderation, rights, releases and asset management.

• Coordinate freelancers, creators, cultural advisors, community contributors and partner content.

• Build content-sharing and cross-promotion opportunities with Aboriginal broadcasters, creators and aligned organisations.

• Maintain strong editorial, cultural and legal standards, and provide clear monthly performance reporting and practical digital capability support to the wider team.

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking an experienced digital producer who can combine strategic thinking with practical delivery. You will be comfortable setting direction, but equally comfortable opening the edit, rewriting the caption, checking the analytics or stepping into the field when the story requires it.

• At least seven years’ relevant experience in digital media, television, journalism or content production,

including substantial experience at senior producer or editorial lead level.

• Strong platform-native storytelling and hands-on production skills, including scripting, interviewing, video editing and content packaging from concept to publication.

• Advanced editorial judgement, including the ability to make sound decisions about accuracy, risk, tone, audience, cultural context and public interest.

• Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal people, communities and organisations, with solid cultural competency and appropriate storytelling practice.

• Experience using analytics and audience insights to improve content performance, publishing cadence and channel growth.

• Excellent project management, stakeholder communication and collaborative leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple streams and contributors to deadline.

• A current driver licence and a Working with Children Clearance, or the ability to obtain one.

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Experience in Aboriginal media, community media, regional or remote storytelling

• Experience with social media management and reporting tools such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite or similar

• Skills in photography, graphic design, motion graphics, After Effects or basic animation

• Experience with creator content, branded storytelling, broadcast workflows
