Executive leadership | Statewide services | Purpose with impact
MND Queensland is seeking an experienced and values-driven Director of Care Services to lead the delivery and future development of our care and support services across Queensland.
Reporting to the CEO and joining our Executive Leadership Team, this is a significant leadership role with both strategic and operational responsibility for a diverse portfolio of specialist services supporting people living with Motor Neurone Disease, their families and carers.
Our Care Services portfolio includes MND Advice and Support Coordination, Equipment and Assistive Technology, supplementary support services, and a growing multidisciplinary Allied Health service spanning Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy including Respiratory Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, Clinical Psychology and Dietetics.
You will lead through an established management structure comprising our Allied Health Manager, Equipment Team Leader and MND Advice/Support Coordination Team Leader, while retaining executive accountability for the performance, quality and sustainability of the portfolio.
The opportunity
This is a role for a leader who enjoys operating at both strategic and operational levels.
You will work closely with the CEO, Board and leadership team to shape service direction, while remaining connected to the people, teams and services that turn that strategy into meaningful outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include
- providing executive leadership across the Care Services portfolio;
- leading and developing managers, team leaders and multidisciplinary services;
- overseeing service quality, safeguarding, risk and regulatory compliance;
- managing service performance, budgets and resources;
- driving continuous improvement and sustainable service development;
- navigating the NDIS, aged care, health and community service environments;
- building strong relationships with health professionals, service providers,
funders and sector partners;
- contributing to advocacy and systemic reform for people impacted by MND; and
- contributing to organisational strategy, culture and performance as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
About you
You will bring substantial senior leadership experience from health, disability, aged care, community services or another complex human services environment.
You are comfortable leading through others, but you don't need layers of management between you and the work. You can move confidently between strategy and operations, understand the realities of delivering quality services in a regulated environment, and make considered decisions that balance client outcomes, people, quality, risk and financial sustainability.
You will also bring strong stakeholder and communication skills, sound executive judgement and the ability to build capable, collaborative teams.
A relevant tertiary qualification or substantial equivalent senior leadership experience is required. Postgraduate qualifications in management, leadership, governance, health or human services will be highly regarded.
Previous experience with MND is welcome, but not essential. What matters is your ability to understand complex human services, lead with purpose and translate strategy into excellent services for the people who rely on them.
Why MND Queensland?
For more than 40 years, MND Queensland has supported Queenslanders living with MND, together with their families and carers.
Our mission is to ensure access to best-practice care and support for every Queenslander impacted by MND and to contribute to finding a cure.
As a specialist, purpose-led organisation, we offer something that can be difficult to find in larger organisations: the chance to influence strategy at executive level while remaining close enough to service delivery to see the impact of the decisions you make.
If that combination of purpose, executive influence and hands-on leadership appeals to you, we'd like to hear from you.
