The Director, Planning and Governance is a key leadership role within the Billing and Credit division. This role leads all aspects of project planning, governance, and performance management across Billing and Credit. It ensures divisional priorities align with the company's overall goals.

The Director coordinates the creation and implementation of balanced business plans and sets governance frameworks to support operational excellence, compliance, and ongoing growth. The Director works closely with senior leaders to turn plans into clear actions, projects, and encourage continuous improvement in Billing and Credit efforts.

What You'll Do | Your day to day will consist of

- Lead the development and implementation of the Billing and Credit division's strategic and operational rhythms, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Run the Billing and Credit portfolio management process, including initiative prioritisation, resource allocation, and performance tracking to improve customer and commercial value.
- Facilitate annual and quarterly business planning cycles, integrating financial, operational, and strategic inputs.
- Build and implement governance frameworks and forums to monitor progress, manage delivery risks, and ensure accountability across Billing and Credit initiatives.
- Establish and maintain performance measurement systems, benchmarks, and reporting mechanisms to assess the efficiency of plans and initiatives.

- Serve as a primary collaborator with the Billing and Credit Senior Leadership Team (SLT), initiative owners, and cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.

What You Bring | What makes you perfect for the role?

- Strong commercial competence demonstrated within senior roles in telecommunications or related industries.
- Outstanding communication and persuasive abilities, with experience interacting with senior executives and cross-functional teams.
- Advanced planning and portfolio management capabilities.
- Deep understanding of governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
- Proven ability to lead and encourage teams in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.

The good stuff…. | What's in it for you?

- Competitive remuneration, plus $80 monthly credit, 25% off Optus products and exclusive shopping discounts with our retail partners — making everyday life a little more affordable. Genuine Flexibility - work three days in the office, two days from wherever works best for you.
- Great leave policies, including additional 'Connected' days to focus on culture, family, health, community, or whatever matters most to you.

- Inclusive, carer-neutral paid Parental Leave of up to 16 weeks, because family comes first.
- Build meaningful connections through colleague-led networks and diversity initiatives including Culture Connect, Elevate Women, Disability Network and Express Yourself (LGBTQIA+).
- Your wellbeing matters, so we offer free counselling and support services, available 24/7 in-person, by phone, SMS, or video.

Not every box ticked? Apply anyway. We believe the right approach matters more than a perfect CV. We'll back you to grow from there. At Optus, we are strengthened by others and that means valuing diversity and saying ‘yes' to embracing individual differences. We are committed to ensuring that our application process provides an equal employment opportunity to all job seekers, including individuals from diverse gender, cultural and linguistic backgrounds, individuals with a disability, individuals identifying as being part of the LGBTQIA+ community, individuals who may have served in the armed forces or who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
